Reasons I think Trudeau was cool
1. He did a pirouette behind the Queen
2. Fuddle Duddle. Only Canadians know what that means
3. He dated hot chicks
4. He took no shit
5. Brought the constitution home, despite the premieres best efforts to screw Canada.
6. He convinced Canadians that the Meech Lake accord was bad for Canada.
7. He drove a cool car.
8. He liked to canoe. Canoing is a great passtime.
9. First north american leader to visit communist China.
10. Met with John Lennon to talk about peace.

Some Quotables...

Canada will be a strong country when Canadians of all provinces feel at home in all parts of the country, and when they feel that all Canada belongs to them.
Pierre Elliott Trudeau

I bear solemn witness to the fact that NATO heads of state and of government meet only to go through the tedious motions of reading speeches, drafted by others, with the principal objective of not rocking the boat.
Pierre Elliott Trudeau

If I found in my own ranks that a certain number of guys wanted to cut my throat, I'd make sure that I cut their throats first.
Pierre Elliott Trudeau

Living next to you is in some ways like sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast, if I can call it that, one is affected by every twitch and grunt.
Pierre Elliott Trudeau

Luck, that's when preparation and opportunity meet.
Pierre Elliott Trudeau

My life is one long curve, full of turning points.
Pierre Elliott Trudeau

The essential ingredient of politics is timing.
Pierre Elliott Trudeau

The state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation.
Pierre Elliott Trudeau

We wish nothing more, but we will accept nothing less. Masters in our own house we must be, but our house is the whole of Canada.

Trudeau would make a great leader today. I'd love to hear what he'd have to say about certain events.
We need a leader today who is tough and will stand up for what he believes in, regardless of what other people tell him to do. Martin is such a wuss. He'll cave into anyones demands. Whether you liked Trudeau or not you had to admire him. There hasn't been a politican since to even match Trudeau.

Thats a very true statement Gonzo. We need a real Canadian leader. What do we have now, a flub, a dud and a crud. Maybe we should get Bubbles from Trailer Parks Boys to run as a leader, wouldn't matter what party either.....

I'm with ya Gonzo!! we do need someone way strong in all aspects. Canada in some ways has lost it's way. We need someone to get us back in the running, Martin or any of the other candidates at this point can do it

I see Premier Klein decided to add his comments.
Trudeau was loved by some and hated by others.
Either way, he inspired passion in people and a belief that the status quo was changable. He also stood up to the US if he felt it was in Canada's best interests, IMO..
I was pretty young when he was a political force, so most of my impressions were formed after he had left office and I read through his history.
I admire his intelligence, guts and confidence.
