Check out the link above. It might entice you to come to Ottawa for a visit this summer.

This might be the most Un-Blues Bluesfest yet but there is still some good stuff for Blues music fans. The after hours shows at the local clubs should be as great as past years.

Believe me I would love to. I was concedering a Saturday show but for all the night shifts this month.

Now I am starting my busiest time of year. I start daily shifts for The Canadian National Tulip Festival followed by the Dragon Boat Festival and then right into Bluesfest.

At this point I may be able to start a weekend show by late summer and a full week show in the autumn and through the winter.

Wow! You're a busy man!

Well.. if you do decide to get something going, lemme know. I know nothing about Blues which is largely why I'd love to tune in and learn from an 'expert' of the genre.

I like most music anyway. Be nice to take blues for a whirl.

Coco Montoya
In Ottawa:

Rainbow, 76 Murray Street

Thursday, October 18 @ 9:30 pm

And in Kingston:

Portuguese Cultural Hall, Kingston ON

Friday, October 19 @ 8 pm

As a teenager Coco Montoya saw Albert King in concert in 1969 and it changed his life. He decided to make a career in music. Originally a rock band drummer, he played in Albert Collins' band for 5 years and was taught to play guitar by the "The Master of the Telecaster". He went on to play guitar with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers before venturing out on his own in the early 90s. "Dirty Deal"

Just popped in to mention that Coco Montoya was fantastic last night. Mind blowing show. If you have the chance to see him at a festival or better yet in a small club, do so you will be in for an amazing experience.

Sorry no pics. I decided not to take my camera but a bud of mine took some shots. If I get one or two from him I will pass something on later.

[marq=right]MAJOR BLUES NEWS!!!! MAJOR BLUES NEWS!!!! MAJOR BLUES NEWS!!!! [/marq]

A few weeks ago, Ottawa Blues This Week encouraged blues fans who would like to hear blues on commercial radio to complete an on-line survey. A group headed by Ed Torres has made an application to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) for a license to establish a blues format radio station in the Ottawa-Gatineau area. The applicants are committed to promoting Canadian Blues artists and giving them a strong presence on radio stations across the country.

You can support this application by sending a letter of support to the Mr. Robert A. Morin, Secretary General, CRTC. A sample letter of support is available. For further information or to download a letter of support that will be used in the CRTC application, please visit www.bluesincanada.com
