Back during the Liberal leadership they had a bunch of musical performers, many of which were Quebec artists singing in french or english & french. I like lot of it, I don't really know any french-canadian artists or music, so i don't know what to look for.
Anyone have any recommendations? I like finding new music.
By god, I wish I could say she was a Québécoise...

I'm a big fan of Maneige, Harmonium, and Beau Dommage. Maneige's not for everyone though (they made lots of Jazz Fusion, among others). Harmonium was very pop-folk at its start but switched to a less pop sound later on. Beau Dommage is pop-folk too, maybe "beautiful music" sometimes, and remained so all along.
There's also Octobre, which is like Beau Dommage but with more of a rock&roll sound.
There then are the countless solo artists who all pretty much all the same.
Not sure that's the kind of music you were looking for, but that's what I'd recommend.

Not sure exactly what genre you are aiming for, but I've recently discovered Godspeed You! Black Emperor (yeah yeah, I'm years behind) from Montreal. Very original and interesting stuff.
Unfortunately I'm too new to post a link, but check them out on Amazon.
