He was great and a great loss to the world of R&R.

I would have loved to see him and Mike Anthony of Van Halen cut heads.

Gee Blues. I surprised. With all the great musicians shown in your sig I can't imagine you think this guy is all that at least not from that performance. Kinda like they advertise on Ebay, if you can't play guitar learn to shred! I guess it goes for bass too. Shred, Shek. What the heck.

I can understand that it is a very different style of music. That style of Bass would not have anyplace in Blues or Jazz but fits fine in R&R.

I do have an appreciation for high energy Rock as well and have seen some talented bass players like the afore mentioned Mike Anthony pull off some mind blowing solos. I guess what always drew me to Metallica was their craftsmanship to the genre. The same with bands like The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Well Blues I hear you and that's fair but I'd bet if you turned off the Gain and Distortion on that guys amp the whole would sound like "SUCK". In other words I think this guys amp has as much talent as the player but then I like Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee.

Does that make me old?

Hell no! Unless you are as old as they are.
A love of the Blues and knowing the roots of popular music allows a further appreciation of the performance.

But TG is probably getting steamed that we are getting off the topic of marking a tribute to one of her faves.

I live but an hour away from where the bus crashed :(
Such a great loss.

Here is (in Swedish) a bit of info about the engraver, who raised the money for the memorial stone,
