One of the biggest stories in Canadian politics this summer was Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s separation from his wife Sophie.
That is just a sad statement that unfortunately illustrates the mind-set of some of the general public. Never mind the actual important issues facing the nation but... OMG the PM is an actual person with actual real-life stuff going on just like anyone else? Who would have thought?
JaredMilne JaredMilne:
For me, the answer is very simple: Unless it affects their capacity to do their jobs, a politician’s private life is none of the public’s business and they have no right to know about it.
I agree with this. I'm not a fan at all of Trudeau but my interest in him only goes as far as how he and his party handle the country. His private life is of no interest to me, nor is the private lives of anyone else that I do not know personally.
People are always thirsty for dirt on anyone with "celebrity status", whether they are a politician, actor, singer, sports figure, etc. It's sad really.
