Ironic. Like faking your skin colour, so you can be the victim of racism. Makes no sense.

Having known a few people who were experts at playing the victim card, it does make sense.

If it's not activists (Joseph Boyden), it's filmmakers (Michelle Latimer), political actors (Suzy Kies), or academics (all the accusations at Queens' University). This is nothing new either in Canada or the U.S.

Remember Grey Owl?

It'd be interesting to see how many activists, writers, etc. who say and do some of the most extreme and out-there political things are actually self-hating ethnic fakers. From Ward Churchill (who claimed that the victims of 9/11 were 'little Eichmanns' who deserved to die), to Suzy Kies (who organized the 'ceremonial' burning of books in Franco-Ontarian schools that supposedly had racist content) to Jessica Krug (who railed about 'vendido' Hispanics, turned her Tinder date into a political screed and seemed like she was ready to attack her date when he said he had friends from different races) I wouldn't be surprised if there's a larger pattern of that.
