He still shouldn't have said it but it's not really that big a deal.
Hell, if he said Americans were bastards, he would have been applauded by many here.

No doubt. He could also have said it about the Germans and no one in their right mind would question the statement for fear of being called a Holocaust denier.

I don't see why Japan gets special treatment for their atrocities.

For that you'll have to talk to General Douglas MacArthur.
He's the one who was in charge of Japan's reconstruction and was the one who ran the Tokyo war crimes sham.

Scape Scape:
Rookie Conservative MP Steven Fletcher has apologized

I wasn't upset about the offensive comment but I am not Japanese. This is an MP and a representative of the people, it a hard job. My sympathies go out to him but I wish he didn't say that.

I honestly think that people take it a little too far.. What if he said 'The Nazi's were bastards'.. I mean really, do you think there would be the same kind of negative response? Not at all. It was a reference to a period in history and an opinion of a his perception.. big deal. Doesn't really matter though.. I'm going to vote liberal anyway. ;)
