There is a difference between comparing the 'Japs' and the 'Krauts'. One is a race the other is racially motivated. Scots, English, Sweds, French, Slavs, Italians, Greeks ect, ect are all 'white' races but only Japanese as 'Japs' It does seem a bit unfair but it is still something that an MP addressing the public should take in to account. And comparing his comment to Carolyn Parrish's comment that was caught on a boom mike are two different things. They both knew what they were saying but one was addressing the public.

This is simply fluff to support the continuing myth that the Conservatives are racist.
This remark was wrong, but no more than Carolyn Parrish's media catch phrase or Hedy Fry's mythical cross burning in Prince George. I have no doubt that we could trade sides all day long about who said what and the only difference is I'd have to look somewhere other than the CBC to doccument it.
