I don't. I'm sure it's because someone else has told them that, and they believe it, but they don't know why. Just like someone told them lemmings jump off cliffs, and they didn't think too carefully about it. They just accepted it.

We are wired to accept a good story as fact. Like during the Republican Presidential debate, when a Neurosurgeon said there was no evidence for vaccines causing autism, but then Twice Impeached Private Citizen told a sad story of an employee whose kid was vaccinated and got autism. And they still believe him, not the neurosurgeon.

They should have been here in October 1970 screaming for their rights and freedoms... military in the streets, being picked up by said military for having the wrong political affiliation, lock-downs and curfews... and all this respected the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Used to collect "suspicious persons" reports during the October Crisis. Driving gf from New West to a movie in downtown Vancouver & back on Kingsway got pulled over four times in one night. You know how 2 longhairs and their gf's in a 57 Chevy in 1970 were so out of place it was suspicious....
And that ended, just like the fucking minor inconvenience of masks and gatherings will soon.

It's not the 'minor inconvenience' of masks and gatherings that is the problem. As I said in another thread....

$1:
I honestly believe that Canadian politicians are milking this whole thing, and are the sole reason why the country is in the shape it's in. Australia is pretty much back to normal. A lot of countries are, and even the USA will have herd immunity (after a slow start) by the end of the year, with masks and restrictions going bye-bye.

Here in Canada, despite all the lockdowns and tough talk, numbers still stay high (possibly inflated) and people aren't getting vaccinated as fast. I'm beginning to wonder if this is being done purposely to line he pockets of the already rich, or is just simply a MASSIVE ineptitude with no end in sight.

Add to the fact that Dr. Tam herself said that even if we do achieve herd immunity this year, that masks will have to stay on for two more years (what a joke!) and some restrictions might still be necessary, and it's no wonder why some people (like myself) don't trust the system or anyone running it.

I'm not off kilter, nor have I said any of this publicly outside of this forum, because I do have a small amount of hope that we'll turn this thing around and get back to normal sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, this hope might be misplaced due to who is in charge at all levels and what their priorities really are at this time.

- Trudeau tried to ram through Bill C-10.
- Ford took rights away from tenants that was hidden in an Omnibus bill.

I've never been bothered by the virus itself (these things happen), but rather the idiocy of the people in charge and their lust for power over just about anything else. Period.

-J.

I'm more worried about freedoms we'll lose in lieu of the pandemic, due to the fact that every level of government and the people in them can't be trusted. Nothing short of going back to the way things were pre-pandemic will be acceptable. Period.

If Australia can do it, so can we.

And I bet, as usual with every naysayer you can't say specifically what 'freedom' if any we might lose in the long term.

You say that it ended, maybe they just moved on to a new target. I wonder what the odds of four black men in a car at night (or four first nation males in a car at night) making it down that highway today without being stopped are.

Winnipegger Winnipegger:
Politicians are now blatantly violating the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Which part, exactly?

- Freedom of Peaceful Assembly: this has several applications. We have the right to protest government policy. No, the government doesn't have the right to arrest protesters, as long as it is peaceful. Protesters were arrested in Toronto at Young and Dundas, and given fines in Steinbach Manitoba.

- Anyone who posts a video on YouTube that challenges China's official story about how COVID started, has the video taken down. And they can have their channel cancelled. Liberal Minister claims bill C-10 will not do that, but it's already happening on YouTube. Bill C-10 will spread this crap to all social media. Censorship is violation of Freedom of Expression.

- Closing churches is violation of Freedom of Religion and Freedom of Assembly.

- Doug Ford already announced police will stop people on the street, demand why they're out of the house, issue draconian fines for anyone not on officially sanctioned business. At least police refused to do that one.

- last year Doug Ford announced fines for people caught outside unless they have a letter from their employer designating them as an essential worker. Police didn't balk at this.

- "social distancing" means people can't go out to public parks. Last summer city of Winnipeg bylaw enforcement officers gave tickets for just walking in a park.

- "lockdowns" mean government decides which businesses can open, which can't. That's socialism at minimum. This has gone on for more than a year, do you really think government will give up that authority? Government never gives up authority. If they gain extraordinary authority for emergency reasons, they will concoct an emergency just to perpetuate the authority.

- Quebec has enforced a curfew.

- Quebec has prohibited house parties, and ordered police to enforce it. Manitoba now restricts who can gather in private homes. WTF!?!

CKA moderators have determined this post may contain mis-information about COVID-19.

Please visit Canada.ca for the latest information.

https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/ ... id-19.html

Do you really think this is all for the "public good"? When COVID started and we saw lockdowns in China, we all told ourselves that is an indication how backward China is. Canada has policies to deal with pandemics, because we've had pandemics before. We don't do these things. Policies for pandemic response by provincial emergency measures department have not be followed/implemented. Instead they followed China's lead. Why the hell would government take policy from a totalitarian regime!?!

Early on medical researchers found hydroxychloroquine works. Chinese doctors studied hospital records and found those patients who were given this for other reasons recovered quickly. So they did a study with 72 patients, and it worked. Then South Korea used it in hospitals, and it worked. Then a doctor in France did a study with 1,000 patients, and it worked. Then Donald Trump mentioned, and those who don't like Donald Trump claimed it doesn't work. I don't like that man either, I'll never take anything on his recommendation, but I won't avoid it either. His opinion doesn't matter. Medical studies by real scientists and doctors do matter, and those studies show it does work. By the way, Joe Biden has issued an order that hydroxychloroquine can be used in hospitals again.

Hydroxychloroquine is derived from quinine, just with more mild side effects so doctors can give a larger dose. That means quinine should work too. That's the active ingredient in tonic water. Yup, the same tonic water sold in the soda pop isle of grocery stores. One catch with the aforementioned medical studies is hydroxychloroquine must be given with zinc for it to work. RNA viruses hijack a part of the cell called a ribosome that's supposed to make protein. The virus forces it to make copies of the virus. Zinc interferes with ribosomes making RNA; not with making protein, just RNA. So it interferes with the virus ability to replicate itself. Both hydroxychloroquine and quinine are "ionophore", which means they cause zinc to pass form the blood into human cells. We don't know if this is the only effect hydroxychloroquine has, or if there's more, but we do know quinine does this one thing as well. So this implies tonic water with zinc should protect you from COVID-19.

It won't stop you from getting infected, but if you do get infected, the virus has great difficulty spreading, so your immune system can mop-up easily. And you won't have much virus to spread to others because this will interfere with the virus ability to replicate.

This was known in March 2020. Government should have done a study on tonic water and zinc. But they didn't, they obsessed over vaccines. There has never been a vaccine for any form of RNA virus before. SARS is an RNA virus and respiratory virus, it hit Toronto in February 2002. There's still no vaccine for it. Vaccines for COVID-19 have come out amazingly fast. Researchers came out with the first vaccine within 3 days of the DNA sequence of the virus being published. Then it took most of a year (10 months?) of testing before the first ones were approved. Testing for the Polio vaccine took 4 years. Health professionals say the final phase of human trials before approving a vaccine takes at least 3 years of observation to see what armful effects happen. That's 3 years of observation after the test subjects are assembled, vaccine applied. Then results have to be collated, analyzed, and reported. Total: 4 years.

And messenger RNA has never been used as the basis for a vaccine before.

Congratulations: you are the test subject. How many people have died from these vaccines?

Large corporations have insisted government use vaccines to resolve the pandemic, not anything else. Reason is obvious: the corporations are getting paid $billions. They don't want a cheap and readily available alternative. Government is supposed to benefit the public, the voters, not corporations.

Conducting the study on tonic water and zinc is long overdue! And now Ivermectin has proven effective.

In a secular society, churches still spread disease just the same as restaurants. And the courts have found that health based restrictions still apply to both church services and mass assembly because at some point the restrictions will end.

$1:
In the 60-page decision, Hinkson found that while provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry’s ban on in-person worship did constitute an infringement on religious groups’ charter rights to freedom of religion, the infringement was reasonable based on the range of options open to the province.

Anyone posting a video that MMR vaccines cause autism will also have it taken down, and for the same reason. Because it's conspiracy bullshit.

Also, The Charter puts limits on what the Government can do. It's literally the first paragraph. It says nothing about what Social Media can do.

Winnipegger Winnipegger:
- Doug Ford already announced police will stop people on the street, demand why they're out of the house, issue draconian fines for anyone not on officially sanctioned business. At least police refused to do that one.

And all of it has been found in accordance with The Charter. Temporary Public safety measures outweigh the right to publicly assemble.

No. There has never been a medical study that showed hydroxychloroquine made any positive difference to anyone suffering from COVID-19, and in fact the side effects from it can be harmful. You can look up the studies I quoted the in the COVID-19 thread.

No. This is how you keep falling for the conspiracies. Someone comes in and tells a good story, with all sorts of testimonials, and not one shred of evidence.
