What is a "Canadian" ?

Under the Liberal government "multiculturalism" came into wide public use.

What is it that we should be proud of? People say Canada has no culture. No history. Canada is a country of Immigrants, that the only true Canadians are the American indians.

If you go back far enough, you come from somewhere else. "Canadian" is not an ethnicity. Yet "American" is one.

Canada has a North American culture similar to the American. So are we really just Americans with bad accents? eh?

So what is it to be Canadian to you?

Well I have to admit we do have a very pretty country. However, you answer does not say what is a "Canadian."

A Canadian is somewhere between European and American. Canadians are very different then Americans though. We waste and pollute more per capita then Americans, yet we sit on our high horse and belittle everything Americans do.
Canadians thing that if we sew a maple leaf on our back pack everyone around the world will love us. That’s a very Canadian idea. Everyone loves us. However, thanks to Harper that is no longer the case. The Muslim world hates us because Harper backed Israel’s massacre in Lebanon. They also hate us in England because of the seal hunt.
Canadian culture is not a culture of war. Yet we are also a lazy culture. So when our government sends us to war we can barely get off our beaver tails and protest it. It’s kind of sad.

oh sorry I guess it would have to be bottle of beer (A Canadian) BTW nice pick of vermillion lakes infact right about where the yellow box car is in that pic I was teasing a couple of full grown Rams and they turned on me , side by side shoulder to shoulder charged me ...they stopped short and just grunted at

Anyone read this book? This looks interesting and I think it's fitting that PET is front & center on the cover.

I grew up believing we were a proud, strong mixture of Brits, French, Euro, Natives and a slice of everybody else. Now we are something else first, then Canadians, like that's an apology.

It's no purprise that PET was in the center of the book as that asshole was always in the crosshairs on many of my figure 11's on the range. Under his "leadership", he did more to kill Canada then any other PM in our history.

Side note, I hear they have to clean off PETS grave weekly. Seems people enjoy taking a crap on it. They regularly have to hose off the head stone so that the stink of shit doesn't contaminate the nearby graves. In the summer it's quite smelly. I looked forward to dropping my trou on his grave one day......I have a dream.....

What was a Canadian? Strong, intelligent, brave, truthful, and motivated to do what is right.

I love how that book cover has photos of some of our greatest leaders and contributors in history.

Who says Canada has no history? We got lots of it, it's just that people don't want to be bothered with reading it...

Ok....Canadians are not an ethnic group because, if you go back far enough, everyone comes from somewhere else. Just like the Americans. So for you to say that Americans are an ethnic group while Canadians are not because of that is to go against the standard that you have set.

anyway for myself who is a canadian has been amplified more by the iron engravings we have across this nation and on the many points of interest as you travel . All the books we have seem so pointless compared to actually being there infront of a small podium reading and overlooking . They all tell a good story several paragraphs long using the backdrop to tell the story and when it comes right down to it it is all the people who beat the odds some 100 years ago and even longer , it has almost nothing to do with present day multiculturalism . The Hudsons Bay Company and The Railroad with the likes of Van Horne along with many other past events says it best for me .

This may come as a shock to you, but my grandfather, a born and raised Catholic Quebec boy, was a Federalist who fought for Canada in WWII. He was also a Liberal...
