To be fair, it's not a flop if they didn't sell any. It's just a research project then.

They likely generated a patent portfolio so large no one else will be able to build an autonomous car without licensing deals.

I am glad they came to their senses on this. It was bound to be a lemon ala Tesla clone. Now they are all in on AI, what could possibly go wrong?
