More interesting points, Canucker. And I definitely agree with the your idea of drafting players from good teams in weak divs. Still I wish you would have waited until AFTER the season started so I could get a headstart on some of those obsessives out there... :wink:

I wonder how well Detroit's record would have been had they played in the NW with Calgary, Edmonton, Colorado, Minnesota and Vancouver last season...

Exactly, Detroit is in the easiest division so it's no surprise they do so well during the regular season and then not so well come playoffs.

you have to remember this is a cyclical trend.. every 5-10 years divisions and conferences gain and lose strength. Now It's the North East and the North West that are the two hardest divisions to play in.. in ten years from now in could be the Pacific and the Atlantic.. I can see the central rising and falling.. but the south east.. hmmm what a stinky beast that is.
but that said Carolina and tampa have both just won cups.. Washington was there a few years ago.. Florida was there in 96.. Atlanta will be there in 2 years ( probably against the Canucks..lol).
