From Steve Anderson of saveournet.ca

$1:
As result of a recent CRTC decision, Bell Canada and other big telecom companies can now freely force Internet usage-based billing on YOU and indie ISPs.

This means we're looking at a future where Internet providers will charge per byte, the way they do with smart phones. If we allow this to happen Canadians will have no choice but to pay more for less Internet.

This will crush innovative services, Canada's digital competitiveness, and your wallet.

It's been a work in progress for years now, anyway those greedy bastards can get more $$$ for less is fair game. The free market is not about paying good money for good service, its more about paying more money for less and less.

I hope this kicks up such a shitstorm that the ISP's reconsider their course of action.

With a few exceptions, you can usually count on the good ol' CRTC to throw some sand into the K-Y. Signed

a problem that alot you guys have is you will take the word of a journalist, or commentator, or a self declared expert at face value, but you wont bother to go to the source and read the official document.

Here's Bill C-32

http://www2.parl.gc.ca/HousePublication ... Language=E

Can anyone here highlight all the sections that would make it possible for these outlandish claims to be true?

Some of us, like me, already got a note in the mail from Shaw saying this is exactly what they were going to do. We know the journalist to be true.
