Frankly, I'm increibly proud of protestor's restraint when they're getting trear-gassed, shot with rubber bullets and clubbed like baby seals. If I lost an eye to some asshole cop, I'd probably be seeking revenge of some sort.

You should watch the Dave Chapelle vid Scape posted yesterday, if you haven't already.

In it, he describes a nutter who started killing cops. When they found where the guy was, 400 of them showed up. Results were as you'd expect. Because the guy was killing one of theirs, they turned him into wonder pudding.

As Chapelle says, now you understand the George Floyd protests.

That's what I alluded to when I mentioned LA...Dallas referred to the nutjob who ambushed cops at a BLM protest in 2016 (IIRC).

Honestly this one doesn’t sound so unjustified given the current reality our society sends armed police to respond to people sleeping in cars blocking traffic. The suspect grabbed the officer’s taser and pointed it at him after 40 minutes of calm interaction. This isn’t one of those cases where the cops show up and kill an unarmed person minutes later.

Perhaps if there were unarmed community safety officers to deal with these kind of nuisances instead of armed cops things wouldn’t escalate to deadly encounters

Should one profession be expected to do all that important community care (with very little training) all at the same time?

Is exactly what 'defund' the police means. Cops aren't any of those things, so those professions should be dispatched instead of cops.
