I knew someone who had touched a high voltage power line while cutting trees for Hydro Quebec.
His wife told me that the shock had "changed" him mentally, this seemed to be permanent.
He also had a open sore on his thigh (the exit wound) that had not healed years after the accident.
I got a few pretty good shocks when I was growing up.
The first of such was when I was in bed at around the age of 6. For some reason at the time I wanted my lamp on, but it was unplugged. So in the dark I was trying to plug it into the wall. I felt the plastic outlet I was kinda getting it where it needed to be, but kept missing the socket.
So I got the brilliant idea for a 6 year old to stick my finger between the prongs to help guide it into the socket.
That worked pretty good as I got a power connection and I lit up.
Felt like someone inside you grabbing your chest and shaking the living crap out of you in a pretty painful manner. Lasted for about 2-3 seconds and I got myself seperated from the charge. Scared the crap out of me, probably would have cried and told my parents, but I was also supposed to be in bed, asleep.... I seemed fine, so I went to bed.
You'd think I would have learned from that experience, yet a year later I did the exact same thing with the exact same lamp in the dark. I figured I would know when to pull my finger out this time around.... nope.
So that time I learned.... but wasn't the last time I'd be electrified. I think I have had electricity course through my body... umm..... probably 6 times now in my life.
But I can't say I ever had my brain scrambled as mentioned above. I just got a very unpleasent sensation and a bit of a scare.
But I'll let you guys know what happens when I'm involved with a lightning bolt
