Can you imagine having to go into the hospital Emergency Room with your chief complaint being that you got hit in the ass with a bolt of lighting while having sex?

$1: They lost their way and were spotted blundering around in the dark by another motorist in a parking space who called police.
Officers who arrived a short while later managed to find the naked and shivering pair and help them into dry clothes and took them home. How the heck did they lose their way? Exactly how far did they walk from their car that they somehow got lost? Did the electricity somehow scramble their brains to the point where they could only react like scared deer on the highway?

When the brain is affected, the person often has difficulty with short-term memory, coding new information and accessing old information, multitasking, distractibility, irritability and personality change. http://www.lightningsafety.noaa.gov/medical.htmI knew someone who had touched a high voltage power line while cutting trees for Hydro Quebec. His wife told me that the shock had "changed" him mentally, this seemed to be permanent. He also had a open sore on his thigh (the exit wound) that had not healed years after the accident.

Maybe Poquas has some experience with this. I sure as hell do! I don't know if it 'changed me mentally' or not. Never got any 'feedback' from anyone in regards. I was wearing work boots with metal plates in the soles. Apparently my weight was on the left foot. The electricity entered throu my right arm and exited through my left foot. My right arm was extremely painful for a few weeks and swelled up like 'the Pillsbury Doughboy'. Zapped my watch and my cell phone. Knocked me on my ass for a while! I 'came to' lying in the dirt, Lil Yogi licking my face. I have no idea how long I was 'out for' aside from a 'few hours' Man, I felt like I had just taken the worst beating of my life. Fuck was I sore! I went to the hospital the next day. The Dr.'s were incredulous. I had to wear a splint for a month, (with the exception of the better part of the day when my son got married. I was in the wedding party, and had already been fitted for my tux. I was not going to miss that)! A couple of days later I developed very large burns and blisters from my lower back down to my ankles. I still have an absess on the bottom of my left foot. This requires poultices and draining 3-4 times per year and keeping my foot elevated for a couple of days. My left side still feels like I just got a really bad sunburn, but yet nothing shows!

If you read the information in my link, you can see just how lucky you were. Most of the symptomes his wife told me about I can find in this link, scary stuff.

I remeber years ago when my younger brother was stupid enough to take a piss on an electric fence on the farm... he sat down as if a horse had just kicked him.. he was sore for a good while and a fence has a pretty weak charge.. so that couple are lucky

The Drs, as well as many others have also said to me "you just don't realize how goddamn lucky you are boy"! I just never thought of my accident as anything more than ' a serious jolt' with some lasting ill-effects. I must admit though, that reading thru the article I have/had all most of the symptoms. I do agree completely that 'supportive family & friends' and a sense of humor are imperitive. I have had a few other serious, life threatening injuries and learned deal with my situations in such a manner with the emotional and often physical support of others. Methinks I would have 'packed 'er in' a long time ago otherwise! I guess I just 'takem as they come' and move on. But then, for years, I have always made sure not to take too much for granted, and to make sure all my affairs are in order.
