And here's what's even funnier.
According to an Angus read poll, conducted in January of 2010, the question was asked of Canadians.
$1:
Would you support punishing each of the following crimes with the death penalty? - Homicide (murder):
Yes - 62%
No - 29%
Not Sure - 10%
http://www.angus-reid.com/polls/view/us ... h_penalty/ What I find amazing is that the numbers are almost identical to 1978:
$1:
Table 19: Support for reinstatement of the death penalty
$1:
Year For Against Undecided
1998 61% 35% 4%
1997 63 30 6
1996 55 36 9
1994 59 32 9
1990 60 33 7
1987 61 28 11
1986 68 20 12
1985 68 22 10
1984 71 21 8
1982 70 19 11
1978 68 20 11

http://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/pi/rs/rep- ... _1/p7.htmlFor 32 years a majority of Canadians have wanted the death penalty reinstated but apparently politicians don't have to listen to what the people want, since it's much more important for their political aspirations to score points with the squeeky wheel crowd.
