Big corporations revenue depends on how the public perceives them. Take a look at some of the former brands that used to enjoy a good public image, like Kodak or General Electric, and see what they have become because of public perception and corporate rebranding. Buying those stocks, a person couldn't go wrong. Now I wouldn't buy anything with their name on it.
And who is it that has the most influence over people? The media. 100% of their revenue depends on public perception, which has led to the trend of link baiting and fake news. Remember that next time someone dis's the CBC.
