The Democrats use Palin as a scapegoat and if she were to be gone from the news tomorrow they'd simply find someone else to vomit on.

John McCain comes to mind in that regard. Before he won the 2008 GOP nomination he was the darling of the media and the left (and he was very popular on this site, too). Then he won the nomination and he suddenly became the object of ridicule and scorn and the target of numerous slanders and libels. In some respects, I think he picked Palin as his VP just to give the wolves someone else to savage.

Next year when whoever it is wins the GOP nomination I fully exprect to see a tantrum of hate from the left aimed at the poor sod regardless if they deserve it.

This fellow is currently an up-and-comer and I can't wait for someone to ignorantly (and predictably) call him a racist or a bigot. That'll be fun.
