What we need is a new company...PEASANT-VU. We all get together, pool our money, launch a satellite and operate programming as a co-op. Then the CRTC and Bell and whomever else can go fuck their hats.

While we're at it, let's also scrap CAN-CON. I am so sick of retreaded, shitty Canadian bands that continue to get air play. But CAN-CON rules keep them on the playlists. Glass Tiger and Trooper and Honeymoon Suite were NEVER cool, NEVER, NEVER. If I hear one more fucking Loverboy song on the radio I'm gonna shoot up a McDonalds.

I don't know if it's the CRTC (i think so) but in Quebec, the radio stations have to air 70% of french music or they loose their license. Even if the band is Quebecois (i.e. Simple Plan), they can't air them. That's why they succeeded in the U.S. before here.

Someone ought to challenge that policy. It's a clear violation of the Charter of Rights.

French station maybe.
I don't think that CHOM has that restriction.

Canadian_Mind Canadian_Mind:
I hate using Bell. The bill for the 40 dollar per month plan comes out to around 85 per month, and I'm not even downloading shit. Play WOW a couple hours a week. It's not like shaw back home in BC, where my connection was limited by the wireless router to 100mbps, or the un-throttled direct connection if I plugged my computer directly into the shaw box, for only 20 bucks a month.

Fuck Bell

Ya know, I love how Joe the Plumber thinks his $40 a month is so fucking much money.
You're router's limiting you to 100 Mbps?
Your fucking employer couldn't afford a 100Mbps line. A College can't afford a 100 Meg pipe.

Shaw in BC goes up to 30 down, and it ain't guaranteed and it ain't no mere $40

I thought the wireless was measured in bits, not bites. A bit is 1/8th of a bite. So 100 megabits per second is well within the 30 megabites limit... something like 12.5 Megabites. And being one of only a couple houses in a 50km long rural stretch linking two urban areas using the connection at 2am, we got a much larger pipe than was our share... Especially for the Cable/Internet package we were paying just 30 bucks a month for.

I actually don't know how much of my wireless rate I was using, but the download time for songs, movies, etc. were usually measured in seconds, and sometimes minutes. If you asked me 2-3 years ago I could have done a bandwidth test, but I am not at home anymore. :(
