They should only wear a curtain from head to toe so as to not show any ankle, with only small slits for the eyes. Just so they don't get constantally raped by men who can't control themselves.

Sound like somewhere other than Canada? {shakes head} How can we have come so far, and this bullshit still persists?

If they stayed at home in the kitchen where they belong, we wouldn't have these problems.

This isn't a big deal especially since all you have to do is look at the military to see the necessity for a dress code onboard ships. There is absolutely nothing wrong with applying dress codes onboard a ship even a civilian one to stop potential sexual harassment incidents so long as the regulations are applied across the board to both genders.

After having spent many years at sea onboard mixed gender units I can attest that dressing everyone the same drab clothing when onboard helps prevents some of the less enlightened males as seeing the females as sexual objects rather than just other sailors or in this case scientists.

But in fairness to the people in charge who ordered these reg's, if these scientists both male and female think it helps their research to dress up in leggings, very tight-fitting clothing, revealing clothing, crop tops and shorts or think that they should be allowed to run around a research ship in their underwear perhaps they're in the wrong line of work.

The only time a person should be allowed to wear the type of clothing mentioned in the article while at sea in a mixed gender unit would be when they're working out in a gym.

Cruise ships have thousands of scantily clad women on board. Many are wearing thongs, and sunning themselves topless. How is it that these cruise ships are not turning into one big rape fest if men supposedly cannot control themselves around women who are not covered in burkas from head to toe?

My dad was a cook in the navy, I should know that.

In my defence, no women served on ships back then.

Women being sexually assaulted for wearing leggings by dudes who aren't capable of controlling themselves is not the fault or responsibility of the woman. It's the sole responsibility of the dude sexually harassing the woman. And any policy or penalization should reflect that.

Get that bullshit out of here.

It's not a cruise ship, it's a research ship. Did you never learn to wear proper clothing when undergoing work with heavy or powered equipment? Quickest way to get hurt is getting your tie or watch caught in machinery. That said, cruise ships have guards, and both kind of ships have men who can't behave themselves.

Cruise ships just cover it up better, a point proven in the article where there were episodes of sexual harassment that meant certain men were not allowed to mix with women. Certainly that isn't the fault of the women, right?

Cruise Ships maintain a strict no interaction with the guest policy.

You do realise that Cruise ships have thousands of people and aren't isolated like warships and research ships?
