I love this show but I'm becomming more than a little pissed that it keeps using thinly veiled George A Romero story lines with their own little twists to make it appear to be original. I guess all the good Zombie story lines have been done?

Like what?

I'm finding Season Three to be perplexing in it's lack of logic. Yes, I get zombies in this story rot slowly, but they do seem to rot over time, which would suggest that at some point, these things will just fall apart. The Ricktatorship is an odd twist after Shane's death, and the new Amazon relationship with it's likely growing LGBT alliance (which will cause Bart to have apoplexy) is just a bit too hollow after all the time they've spent together.

Frankly, I'm finding the writing so far to be rather weak compared to the last half of Season Two (missed the first half) which had me on edge.

Hmmmmm

Yes, I've always wondered that about zombie stories, but most of of them take place over a relatively short time line. Other zombie ponderings:

- Zombies are driven to constantly eat, but they don't shit. I'm guessing their rotting stomachs (if they even have one left) must just burst open after a time. After that, whatever goes down their throat (if they even have one left) must just fall out on the ground.

- Even with the "everyone is infected" theme, how is it that the zombies are reproducing at such a rate? I get that getting bit buy a zombie turns you into a zombie, but that is only if the zombies don't eat your entire corpse first. There are so many zombies walking around with an arm chewed off or a throat torn out, one would think that that in most cases, getting mangled in that fashion by zombies would end up with the victim being entirely eaten before they had a chance to turn. Why aren't these zombies finishing their meals? Maybe it's because they can't shit.

- Zombies have limited motor skills, so probably can't swim; why not just take a boat to a small island?

See my post about George A Romero, the movie remake of Dawn of the Dead and taking a boat to an unihabited island for protection, for your answer. [B-o]

Yeah, I've seen DOD but my conclusion was that the island wasn't uninhabited. I don't think zombies would be able to walk across the bottom of a body of water either as they'd be buoyant...plus could they withstand the current?

I guess I should have stated supposedly uninhabited island. But in Land of the dead they did manage to cross a river and attack the city which, given the lack of really original writing lately for Walking Dead may just be a future story line. :D

Season 2 is on Netflix, go watch it if you want to be bored. So far I'm liking season 3 a lot more than the second, mostly because so much has already happened than in the first half of season 2.

I don't see the Ricktatorship that surprising as all. In the whole of S2, Shane undermined Rick at every opportunity to the point where they had to fight it out. Now, Rik realizes that he has to be decisive and early to nip future challenges to his authority in the bud. That's why he hacked the one prisoner in the head.

And in the case of Andrea and Michionne, all I can say is I hope we have a redux of the Xena/Gabrielle relationship. [drool]

In some author's works, they do. Check out David Wellington's Monster series - in it zombies eat anything organic if people aren't around. The result is a dead wasteland...
