Thanos Thanos: Actually all I said was that Willow was a harmless and mostly fun little show with great production values and that I'm looking forward to more of it if there's going to be more than one season. Let's be fair then. This is fair:

I never even check reviews on anything entertaining as I don't give a shit what the so-called "experts" say about a TV show/movie/book/whatever that I enjoy or not. Their opinion means about as much to me as my opinion would mean to them. Hell, I don't even mention the TV shows I like on here as I know most of you are into shows I don't watch and you'd probably laugh at me for the ones I do.

Actually I never laugh at what someone else likes. None of my business. Note that I didn't give Fiddy a bad time over his list of recent viewing that he enjoyed. That's the way I roll. I might give someone crap if they're watching something for political reasons instead of for enjoyment but that's about all I'll do. What I will do though is retaliate when I don't get the same consideration shown to me. All I said that was I liked a show, and in return I got dragged into the usual internet sewer of "you're a moron if you like that and here's some "indisputable evidence" from the red-pill side to show you how stupid you are". Or some YouTube video from the sort of guys who like to harass an actress so badly, if she dares to appear in a genre that they've decided belongs exclusively to them, that she has to shut off all her social media accounts to get away from their swarm of vicious dweebs.
Nope, not gonna take that kind of disrespect. Not from some toxic tribal types who are behaving much worse at any given moment of their adult lives than they ever did when they were children.

Even if they're on CBC?

People watch CBC? What is this CBC thing you speak of?

OK. One of the shows I like on CBC is Family Feud Canada. Gerry Dee is a funny guy and the families, from all over the country (including small communities most people have never even heard of), are hilarious and most of the questions are very Canada oriented. Good and mostly clean humour and much more enjoyable than the US version of the show.

Oh wah... You like Willow. Myself, Critical Drinker and the majority of the RT audience think it sucks. So be it. But hey, feel free to go nuts on the one I touted. Here I'll start you off. Willow good. The Peripheral bad. Go ahead. Never bothers me to destroy ridiculous propositions. Actually, I was kind of looking forward to it.

*VOTE to put fiddy back on the ignore list for reasons of tedium - yes? no?*
The Witcher: Blood Origin was what it was. Kind of a netherworld item of a bizarre pure neutrality, neither good nor bad to me because the entire Witcher property kind of leaves me emotionally inert. I guess The Witcher is a big thing to some people. I don't mind the acting or the fights or the CGI. But the story so far in all of it's series and offshoots is just soulless. There's really not much anything there at all to rouse any true emotion. And if there is something there, that I obviously just can't see, then that something certainly hasn't been helped by them writing it in such a way that there's no reason at all to care in the slightest about any character who isn't named Geralt or played by Henry Cavill.
I'll out it down as a harmless cash-in chasing the money trail carved out by the LOTR movies and then Game of Thrones, and assisted well enough by the massive production machine Netflix apparently has at it's disposal to make it look good. Same with The Wheel of Time over at Apple or Hulu or whoever the hell is making it. No harm, no foul at all. Make more of these things IMO, just so the surprise occurs someday when someone puts out something truly creative and entertaining. But I wouldn't mistake any of this stuff for the true magic JRR Tolkien or George RR Martin created. The Witcher and most of these other shows are far more like (at least) 99 out of every 100 comic books that get printed - 50 of them are pure crap that isn't worth anyone's time at all & 49 of them are worth reading once. All in all though there's really only going to be one of that hundred that is good enough that it deserves to be read twice.

I vote no, Thanos. You give me the chuckles.
Just finished His Dark Material, the series finale. Not bad, but not for all tastes. The books were better, of course.

Now as to the Witcher. As I may have mentioned I'm a fan. But I'm a Sapkowski Witcher fan.
With the TV version, Season 1 at least seemed to be trying. The best you could say about Season 2 was it was kind of maybe trying to be kind of Sapkowskiesque.
I never understood that. If you don't like the original why steal the title and the character names? Maybe they think they're better writers than Sapkowski. Maybe they think they can do better.
Judging by that Season 2 abortion they're wrong.
I gave up on the TV version. As I understand it Blood Origins is a retconned atrocity on the level of the last Doctor Who's finale. It's a spit in the face of anything that could be thought of as Sapkowski canon.
You'd have to strap me to a chair and pry my eyes open like Alex in a Clockwork Orange to get me to watch a minute of it.

I have to agree. With season 1, they kept largely to the book but season 2 was a mess. And as for Blood Origins….ugh. I can’t believe someone as awesome as Michelle Yeoh got sucked into that travesty.
It’s like Netflix is trying to milk as much out of that series as they can by applying what they think is a magic formula and now they’re watching it go *poof* in front of their eyes. I totally understand why Henry Cavill left the show.

Just binged the new season of Jack Ryan. Ignore the geographic knowledge of a typical American Grade 8, it was good. -youc annot attack a Russian vessel in the Black Sea, escape in a rubber boat and beach it on the shores of Greece... -produce a movie during 2022 with the main story a plot in the Czech Republic - it's called Czechia FFS - and threats to attack by Russians bringing forces right up to the border with Ukraine. That's Slovakia not Czechia. And you'd need to win against Ukraine first! - penetrate and escape to attack a Russian nuclear plant unnoticed by helicopter, let alone have a chopper with the range to end up landing in Finland. - release it without noticing one of the scene identifier labels read "Czechoslovakia" - have part of the plot Russians trying to prevent them joining NATO when the old Czechoslovakia was one of the first E Europeans to join in 1997 - to to convince us it might be a Cold War setting when the Czech streets are full of BMWs and they "just" elected the female President.
I know you have to let a little go to make an entertaining movie, but at least make an effort
