Just shouting out to the other expats in this forum. I'm currently living in Berlin, Germany and this city just doesn't have many of us... Though I know Munich has tons of expats from Aussieland, Britain, Canada and the US, Berlin is still growing and recovering from 50 years of isolation.

So what's your story?

You jsut had to be the first one to post on the new forum didnt you?

Well I am in boredomland aka Derby, England, on school exchange until mid May. I wanted to come here for ages and now that I am here. Its very meh. Very similar to home except people go out a lot mroe and being drunk almost everyday is perfectly acceptable. There is way too much car pollution, too muhc puke on the sidewalks, and not enough space. There is never a time when I can walk for more than 5 monutes and not see anybody else which is super annoying. Im glad I came ehre, but I am ready to go home now.

I ended up in Scotland nigh on two years ago on a working holiday visa. I'd been for a visit in 2002 for a month and when I went back to Canada, I couldn't get Scotland out of my head. It left me very discontent and I had to get it out of my system. So I applied for a Working Holiday visa and arrived back on Scottish soil in January of 2004. Met my husband, got a job with the Scottish Court Service and here I am lol.

I miss home, but I think it's more to do with my friends and family rather than Canada itself. My life isn't so very different as to what it was before and I'm fortunate in that now I have two homes to choose from.

p.s Any Canadians in the UK, there's a Canada Shop in London. I just received my shipment of Kraft Dinner :D only to realise that I forgot to order Timmy's coffee!! :/

It is expensive, but try bringing KD back yourself, Customs will confiscate it. I had 9 boxes of KD confiscated when I came back last time, even though it was packed in my luggage. They check EVERYTHING.

I don't mind paying the £1.75 per box, it's better than not having any at all to me!

Really? I will only be bringing one pack, and I intent totake it out of the box so it wont make noise, I also want to bring back some all dressed chips, chocolate covered almonds, and peanut butter m & m's. As long as you put it on the form it shoudl be legal

They've put new restrictions though, that's the problem. Anything dairy cannot come back in without clearance or proper custom allowances. I hid my reeses because of the peanut butter (milk product lol)

You can get peanut m&m's here! Do you not get them in Derby?

mmmmmmmmmm All dressed chips. Yummy!!

I'm forever calling 'crisps' chips. Drives my husband mad. I've converted him to 'gas stations' too lol

Sort of is the operative phrase! I can't eat the maple syrup here, it's crap! I get my parents to send me my favourite...the kind that comes in the grey jug with the red lid. I can't remember the name of it.

I'm down to my last box of gobstoppers and I miss sour keys!!
