well, after waiting almost 20 years, i finally did it.. visit the Normandy
beaches and have a look at the D-Day site from 1944..

a very moving and emotional experience, highly reccomended trip.

If you ever have the chance .. GO !!! you wont be dissapointed...

this is the Juno Beach Center, right on Juno Beach...

the next shots are taken at low tide, same as when the troops landed.

maybe a little boring, but it gives you an idea of the run from the beach

to the bunker.. minus the machinegunners, though..

originally i took a pic every 10 paces.. i will post for every 30 paces,
cause it takes a long time ;)

Martin is the Juno Centre on the Winnipeg Rifles landing beach? Their landing beach was on the right side of the River Seulles.

From what I know of the Winnipeg's monument being on the Regina Rifles landing beach is that when it was built there was no road or path to it and it's on the other side of the river. It was easier to put it on that side of the river so more people could see it. It's still a point not lost on those gentlemen 64 years later either.

I have many of the same pictures and have one with me in front of the tank.
You'll notice some of the regiment badges on the tank are nice and fresh. Unfortunately some have been removed by thieves and have been replaced by newer ones....like the Regina Rifle badge there.

The flags of New Brunswick and Acadia still fly in St-Aubin, where the
