WDHIII WDHIII:
Some of them have ages on them and some of them dont... any idea why M?

Was trying to work out the average age of the ones posted :(

no idea Wil, sketchy records at the time maybe,

no computers to keep track of it all. :)

There was no real fighting in this part of Italy, the partisans took
most of it before the Allies got here.

Interestingly, this are was liberated by the Buffalo Soldier Division,
a black segregated US Division.

Most of these guys are airmen who were shot down in Northern Italy,
Milan was bombed a few times, for the railroad connections.

Colin Wheatley enlisted for the Canadian Air Force in Montreal on 27-11-1940 and was killed over Turin, Italy on 24-11-1943

Flying Officer Joynt was killed on Monday March 19th, 1945
Tried to bail out and didnt make it. They didnt find him until November 1945.

My guess to average age would be 24-28, good age for a flyer.

I will send an email to the Graves Commission, see if they have any idea.

I was a little ticked off that the Indian Goverment,
which has 1 soldier here, laid a wreath ( the first pics ) ,
while we have 18 men here.... and nothing :(

Bit of a shame really, these men should not be forgotten....

looks like the Canadian Consulate in Milan closed 2 years ago.
Phone doesn't work, emails returned.

So that makes it the Embassy in Rome.

If I'm here next year, I'M gonna do it

Nice effort. I think such a good 'eye' deserves a DSLR.
