http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2 ... calls.html$1: An audio recording surfaced Friday showing the Conservative campaign in Guelph, Ont., wasn't the only one to use automated robocalls in the last federal election campaign: the Liberals also employed the technique. Liberal MP Frank Valeriote has confirmed his campaign used an auto-dialed phone message to tell voters in the riding that the Conservative candidate, Marty Burke, opposed abortion. Valeriote said the call was recorded by a volunteer from his campaign who used a fake name because she feared retribution from anti-abortion activists. The recording, provided by a Conservative supporter, features a woman who identifies herself as Laurie MacDonald, but doesn't say she's calling from Valeriote's campaign. Six to one half a dozen to the other

Sask Party called me during our provincial election repeatedly about the NDP wanting to share resources with the natives, I think I got about 5 of them in the span of two weeks, only difference was that they sometimes used a real person. I guess this is a common tactic now.

Politics is unethical and dirty. Always has been and always will be. It attracts a certain type of person with certain flaws(often defined as sociopaths).

Although, gotta love the media's instant bias towards the Conservatives upon the ''so called'' scandal being initially revealed. Constant attacks without any actual verification of the real facts, but they sure seemed to take turn entertaining themselves in bashing the CPC. But then, that is our media, Provincial and Federal.

I don't understand why this is news, robocalls are nothing new. I get robocalls from BC political parties for 2 years.
The difference is robocalls being used for voter suppression with misleading voting location information.

All parties us robocalls. The diff is that these calls relayed accurate information. If you guys can't see the diff, guess that explains why politics is in the shape it's in.

The difference is robocalls being used for voter suppression with misleading voting location information. Exactly. And with pretending to be from Elections Canada - ie criminal.

Just more diversion tactics by the Reformacons. First it was "the Liberals used US calling centers too." When that backfired on them, they moved to this, as if the fact the calls were automated that were the issue. And the CPC dittoheads all bobble away.

The difference is robocalls being used for voter suppression with misleading voting location information. Thank you. Kept me from having to point out the difference between legal and illegal. You would think it was obvious.

You turn a blind eye to so many other things that are illegal so one would logically assume that something as namby-pamby as robocalls wouldn't bother you at all.

Really, this whole thing is being seen by the public for what it is. Nobody cares except the partisans from either side, the wankers in Parliament and the media.
Yawn.

The difference is robocalls being used for voter suppression with misleading voting location information. Indeed. I thought everyone knew this wasn't about "Robocalls", but about the Content of those Calls. Apparently not.

The difference is robocalls being used for voter suppression with misleading voting location information. Yay! SOMEONE knows what the issue is. It's not about using "robocallers".
