I'm just curious, is anyone currently playing High School Football, or has played High School Football?
I play AA Senior Varsity ball in Aldergrove, BC, Canada. We just got football at are school this year and we have some decent talent on the squad. I just find it a bit weird that High Schools in are league play by American Rules, though.

By the looks of your sons opponents, he plays Community Football, possibly Flag level. High School Football in BC plays by American Rules for some reason.

I played line backer in High School. Broke a couple of bones in my neck that are still giving me grief........especially in the last week or so!! It was the regular Canadian rules.
We did alternated with a US team every year. When we played here, Canadian rules and we won. When we went there, we played their rules and they won.
I was there for the girls.

lily lily: I believe that had more to do with athletic scholarships than anything else. I didn't realize they'd upgraded.
Joined the CIS (formerlyCIAU) in 2002 and are part of Canada West Universities Athletic Association.

Got you beat. I did my neck, both ankles(one of which I wdid in practice then walked on all afternoon. It was the size of honeydew by the time my mom saw it and took me to the hospital), a wrist and a kneecap in highschool football. Then went on to rugby where things really got fun.

My school was the Division III Champions back in 2002. I was the left offenive gaurd, and occasionally a d-tackle or linebacker. In my last year i partially dislocated my shoulder about a dozen times throughout the season. It's never going to be perfect, or normal again. I cna't even through a football properly any more without fear of my shoulder poping out of place. I didn't go to a doctor about it untill after the season, i didn't want him to tell me that i shouldn't play

I played for three more weeks and into the city championship with what I thought was a sore neck and numb arm. The injury that stopped me cold was the dislocation of my clavicle from my sternum.......full contact baseball.
If I'd known I was going to live this long I'd have taken better care of myself.
How's your neck now? This past week I've had a nasty hurt from my shoulder down my forearm.

I use absorbine senior every once in awhile and keep a heating pad handy in certain weather, but I still bike, box and weight train. I've even started taking kendo classes(When I'm older I'll be able to take out young punks with my cane). My ankles are the worst, as neither have much range of movement. God, the stupidity of teen aged males(but i'd do it all again).

My ankles are a bit of a mess too , but from baseball. In fact, I tore a ligament in one of them golfing this June. When it happened I thought someone hit me with a club. Getting hurt while golfing is embarrassing.
Yup......I'd do it all over again as well.

I played football in school, some years ago mind you. Tight end #77. Loved it, wanted like everyone else to be a pro player-but alas, I realized that everyone isn't intended to be. Still think about those days though.
These days all the game I get is when the guys and I get together out in the county, once a year and beat the christ outta each other. Fun stuff, but the time off work as a result is not good.
Wife hates it. Fuck her-she has pampered chef parties and I don't say shit.

lily lily: My son is 11 - he plays Pee Wee. (1st level of full tackling)
It is community football - I forget the name of the league, but it's featured in Tuesday's Province every week.
I didn't realize that about High School football, but I remember when I was that age my boyfriend played American rules.
Good for your son.
I wish I'd started a little younger so I could be ahead of the game.
If he sticks to it he should be reasonably good before spring ball.
The non football player's at our school always call us wimps and stuff.
It's satisfying to rally them at lunchtime.
