I don't know if anybody played the first one, but the third version, and the true sequel to the original will be coming. I played the demo tonight and loved it! Basically, you're the tinpot dictator of a Caribbean Island during the Cold War, and you have to basically build your society, economy, and political alliance from that. This game has had one of my most favorite political systems, and this game has just taken it to another level (Making speeches and campaign promises), and of course, the chances of either the USSR or the USA overthrowing your ass is always there.
The demo is out at Gamespot as well. Try it out, it's well worth it.
Did you try the demo? I found it rather enjoyable, and the added fact there are cars is just...awesome.

Bumping for my review.
If you liked the first game, you'll like this. It's the same game really, with nicer graphics and roads. There are a few added features, like oil...but honestly, it's really minor. Mining outside of gold still sucks, too.
I do enjoy the game. Things are easier to manage, I find, specifically because teamsters actually drive to pick up their cargoes, thus your people won't starve due to your farms being far away. It is the same great game...which excites me, and yet...disappoints me too. I was hoping for a few new buildings, or edicts, or features, or superpowers, or something. For example, in Tropico 1, a partially textured iron smelter could be build. They should of added it, thus making iron worth something. Maybe they could of added more Caribbean crops, or even some textiles too (cotton goes into the textile mill, which produces cloth, or Nike shoes).
Anybody interested in running their own little country should buy this.

Bumping this for the expansion. Has anybody (besides me) purchased the Absolute Power expansion for Tropico 3? I could write a little summary/review if people want to have some info
