Alta_redneck Alta_redneck: Burrows the to Sens, possibly for a young Swed that is still playing in the mother land. Benning just came back from a European scouting trip last week so he must know what he's getting. Here's a guy from Prospect Radio who watches Dahlen, and he's high on him. http://www.tsn.ca/radio/vancouver-1040- ... l-1.682627Here's Benning on a TSN podcast giving his view on the trade and other matters. http://www.tsn.ca/radio/vancouver-1040- ... l-1.682712Sounds pretty good to me so far. More and more it's starting to look like if you give us 2 years you better watch out. We have good players coming up. Kind of sad to see Alex go, but he'll be back hopefully, either behind the bench or signed back next year. For now, "Go Ottawa!" I guess. If you couldn't get the cup here, do it there, Alex. There will be a few cheers when Burrows returns, I'll tell ya.

Alta_redneck Alta_redneck: I believe Burrows signed a 2 year extension with Ottawa. Yeah, I was just listening to him being interviewed on the radio. It sounded like that was a consideration for him. Other teams were interested.

I'm sorry to see Burrows leave. Hopefully this new kid will work out for the Canucks but I'm guessing we won't see him until next season.

Detroit at Vancouver
62 RED WINGS (24-26-10) at CANUCKS (26-29-6)Canucks team scopeMarkus Granlund and defensemen Troy Stecher and Ben Hutton will be in the lineup. Stecher missed the game against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday with the mumps. Hutton, who was held out of practice after showing symptoms Sunday, and Granlund, who also missed the game Saturday after showing signs, tested negative for mumps. "They never had the mumps so they are cleared to play right away," coach Willie Desjardins said. "It's a precautionary thing. We wanted to make sure we did the right thing." Defenseman Christopher Tanev, who missed the game Saturday with mumps, has also been cleared to return after five days in isolation. He practiced Monday and Tuesday but hasn't recovered enough physically to play against Detroit. "Tanev still isn't feeling great and that's the thing with the mumps, everybody gets affected differently," Desjardins said. Goalie Richard Bachman was called up from Utica of the American Hockey League after backup Jacob Markstrom sustained a lower-body injury in a team function on Sunday but Ryan Miller, who could be traded, will start. Jannik Hansen, who is also a trade possibility, moves to the top line with Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin, a spot vacated when the Canucks traded Alexandre Burrows to the Ottawa Senators on Monday. Desjardins doesn't expect to hold players out because of potential trades. "There are all kinds of talk on trade rumors but until something happens, there is nothing going on," he said. It's official, Jannik Hansen has been traded to San Jose..... $1: Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has acquired left wing Nikolay Goldobin and a conditional fourth round pick in 2017 from San Jose in exchange for Jannik Hansen.
"Nikolay is a gifted offensive player with good hands and good release on his shot," said General Manager Jim Benning. "His play away from the puck has improved this year in the American League and we believe with his skillset and continued development, he has the ability to become a valuable member of our team."
"Jannik has been an important part of our team for over a decade and we would like to thank him, his wife Karen and their children for all they've done and wish them all the best in San Jose," continued Benning. "While this was a difficult decision to make, this trade helps us with our goal of continuing to build a younger, skilled team for the future."
Goldobin, 21, appeared in 46 games for the San Jose Barracuda this season, recorded 41 points (15-26-41) and ranked third on the team in scoring. He also played two games for the Sharks in 2016.17. The Moscow, Russia native has appeared in 11 NHL games, scoring two points (1-1-2). He recorded his first NHL goal in just his second career game.
On the international stage, Goldobin represented Russia at the 2015 World Junior Championships. The 5'11", 180 pound forward recorded five points (2-3-5) in seven games played, ranking tied for third for the lead in team scoring, and earned a silver medal. He also appeared at the 2012 Ivan Hlinka tournament where Russia placed fifth.
Prior to his professional career, Goldobin played two seasons for the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League. Over the course of two seasons he collected 162 points (68-94-162) over 135 games. He appeared at the 2014 CHL Top Prospects Game for Team Cherry and was named Player of the Game.
Goldobin was originally selected 27th overall in the first round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks.

Vancouver at San Jose
63 CANUCKS (26-29-7) at SHARKS (37-18-7)Defenseman Christopher Tanev and forwards Michael Chaput and Sven Baertschi will return to the lineup, and forward Joseph Cramarossa will make his debut for the Vancouver Canucks. Tanev and Chaput each missed two games with the mumps, and Baertschi missed nine games with a concussion sustained against the Nashville Predators on Feb. 7. "I know it's going to be a tough first period for me," Baertschi said. "It's just a matter of getting back into game shape. ... Tried to push it a little bit this morning, get a good sweat going, and I'm feeling good right now." Tanev said he had a setback after practicing Monday but expects to play. "Hopefully I'm over this thing now," Tanev said. Chaput also said he's ready to play. "So far no complications, so it's all good," he said. "I never experienced anything like that, but it's just nice to be back and be healthy again." Cramarossa, claimed off waivers from the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday, will skate on the fourth line. "I hope to bring the same physicality and energy I did with Anaheim," he said. Forward Nikita Tryamkin (mumps) remained in Vancouver and coach Willie Desjardins said he doesn't expect him on the three-game road trip. Forward Nikolay Goldobin, acquired in a trade with the San Jose Sharks as part of the package for forward Jannik Hansen on Tuesday, won't play because of immigration issues. Desjardins said it's likely that Goldobin will make his Canucks debut at the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday. Puck drop at 7:30pm PT

They were whining about the trade all day in Ottawa because, of course - Ontario - they don't hear about about anything that happens west of the Manitoba border.
Sounded like they didn't know what Alex Burrows could bring to their team.
They know now. Alex just popped in 2. 2-0 Senators over Colorado.
That'll shut em up.

Damn, with all these trades and the loss of many much loved players it's like watching a completely new team playing. Whether anyone wants to admit it, the Canucks are definitely into a rebuilding phase. This is proved by the fact there are only 4 players now with the Canucks who played with the team in the 2010-2011 season. Danny and Hank Sedin, Alex Edler and Chris Tanev. With only 20 games left to play this season this new squad had better start playing their hearts out or they're going to have an extended golf season coming up.

Hyack Hyack: Whether anyone wants to admit it, the Canucks are definitely into a rebuilding phase. Yeah it's kind of cute isn't it? The way Benning/Linden keep calling it "transition", but everybody knows it's a rebuild.
