If these people are so smart why dont they run for a place in the gov. Very few get ellected when they do and fewer turn out to be good leaders.

Stick to what you do best and let it be. I'm sure I could tell Matt a thing or two about acting and how his money should be spent. Wonder if he would listen to me. That's not the point. The point is that those who have little to lose are willing to risk much more. If they(Politicians) had their own children to lose in the advent of War, they'd be much more cautious in declaring War or in prolonging War.

Like us posting here, Matt has every Right to voice an opinion. Like us here, if you don't want to hear that opinion(Matt's or other "Hollywood" types) you have the Right not to listen.

There are basically 2 groups who spread "Hollywood" opinions around:

1) ET and the Entertainment "News" machine whose job is Gossip and other Sensationalism surrounding Entertainment Celebrities. Basically Marketing

2) Those who love to hate "Hollywood" and knock down "liberals", because all of "Hollywood" is full of Socialist, Communist, liberals. Everyone knows that's the Truth, here's a quote from X as the Proof.

Certainly some politicians(both Left and Right) bring in Celebrities during some campaign speaches, not necessarily because those Celebrities are brilliant, but because those Celebrities bring attention and buzz to events.

Personally I think Celebrities don't add much to Political discourse and often they just distract away from issues at hand. As can be seen in this very thread, the Celebrity ends up becoming the issue rather than the Idea.

He's entitled to his opinion. But without experience, it carries as much weight as Nicole Richie. If Damon wants to criticize others for NOT fighting over there, then he should shut up, ruck up, and get behind a .50 cal.

I'm not sure what the ratio is. But Minnesota Senator Becky Lourie had a son killed in Iraq in May 2005. Senator John Mcain, himself a former Vietnam POW has a son in the Navy who will be serving in Iraq soon, Senator Jim Webb has a son serving there, and a huge proportion of senators and congressmen are former members of the US armed forces, some being Viet Nam veterans.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Tori Spelling, Brittany Spears or any of the other vacuous Hollywood losers have a loved one serving in the "Mess-O-Potamia".

In fact, I would go so far as to say that the US Congress and Senate has far more people with personal involvement with their nation's armed forces than we have here in Canada.

Name one person in Canada's Parliament who has a son serving in Afghanistan?

While we're at it, find me one, other than Conservative Defence Minister Gordon O'Conner, who ever wore this country's uniform.
