Is it just me, or do the American Forces seem a tad trigger happy lately???I mean, they have shot down more of their own forces since the war broke out than I can count on both hands. And lets not forget the 4 Canadians who were shot down by American troops shortly before the war broke out. I mean-we are still waiting for a reason as to WHY this happened. No appologies, no explanation, and the soldiers who committed this tragic offense on Canadians everywhere aren't even being held responsible for their actions!!! I can picture Ol President Bushy now, slapping his hand to his forehead and massaging his temples, saying "YEESH!" And he's probably got his CK designer panties in a knot over HIS OWN trigger happy troops. Americans with guns-I'd rather face Osama Bin Laden in an Octogan match then face a US soldier with a howitzer in my face. But thats just my opinion, I don't know about all my fellow Canadians out there....

My great uncle told me that the Americans were loud, brash and half trained. He said that they were liable to shoot at anything that moved when under pressure - (Anzio) My grandfather told me that they had superb equipment, but were noisy, trigger happy and liable to panic when attacked with determination.
........nothing changed then

Why does everyone always bunch ALL Americans into a big pile. My uncle said Americans were this, Americans are all trigger happy, I wouldn't trust an American, etc. It's just plain dumb and descrimination. How would you all like it if I was like "I wouldn't trust a Canadian with my sister, I heard they all fuck people in the ass when they aren't looking." You can count all the soldiers who have caused friendly fire on more than your 2 hands? Well damn, considering there's around 150,000 soldiers in Iraq alone, I don't think that's a big deal. Yes, there are friendly fire incidents, but what this comes down to is the typical bashing of Americans as being less capable or intelligent than everyone else. Get over yourselves!

It only seems that way because of the low numbers of friendlies killed due to enemy action. Given the amount of troops over there and the situation I'm suprised there isn't more. Compare it to every other engagement fought by any other military from any country anytime during the last, say, two centuries. These numbers are pretty average.
As for the 4 Canadians, what are you talking about? The 4 Patricias who were killed in 'stan by the F-16 pilots dropping bombs? They wern't "shot down". The pilots faced a court martial. A sentence was pronounced and it matters not a whit if we like the result or not, it was up to the USAF to punish them according to their regulations, not a generally un-informed Canadian public.
Are you aware of the conditions that they are experiencing? Do you know how well trained the average American soldier is? Are you aware of what their open fire policy states? So, are you a soldier? If not, then you'll never face a "US soldier with a howitzer in your face". Your opinion in this matter is ill-informed and not based on any practical experience. If you had a shred of military experience you'd realize how far off base your opinion of the US Armed forces really is.
Are just trying to stir up some shit?

Thanks for that post SprCForr. It's so frustrating when all the arm chair generals come out of the woodwork and try to talk shit.

Hey, has anyone noticed the original post was made over 2 years ago? And casualties both friendlt, neutral, and hostile will always be a part of war because they always have been a part of war. Unless there is a fundamental shift in the concept of what war is, things will remain this way. This is just one of those things where it is easier said than done. Of course it would be wonderful if in the course of battle, none of your guys are hurt and the bad guys are all just incapacitated and then captured, but never killed. But that will never happen for a very, very long time, if ever.
