Still very mild here and I am definitely not complaining! Today just sun/cloud mix and single digit temps but they're forecasting some snow maybe on Sunday when temps go down briefly but then the temps go up and back to rain.

Wind chills down to -55. (I never get to use that emoj).
Going to put on the heavy winter coat and faux fur hat (that I haven't worn in years), and go to the corner store for some milk.

How about that? They said it would snow this afternoon and it is indeed snowing right now. According to Enviro Canada right now it is -4 but -13 with the wind chill. I'm a bit surprised as while it is for sure nippy it doesn't seem as cold as that.
We went out to do some grocery shopping earlier and I was surprised not to see the stores super busy with the forecast as it sometimes prompts people to panic and rush out. We were on the way home when the flakes began to fall. It's supposed to be clear but cold the next few days.

In my neck of the woods, -16C with a windchill up to -27. I don’t much care for it.

A week or 10 days ago on the local news there was a whole lot of whining about how mild and pleasant the weather was. Not enough snow on the local mountains to appease the skiers/snowboarders, too warm, blah blah, blah. I figured "wait for it assholes". Winter is here now and everyone is bitching about the cold and icy roads now. FFS...

We actually got an alert through the emergency system to reduce power usage.

According to my vehicle, it was -39 this morning, but warmed up to a balmy -32 this afternoon when the sun was out.
It might hit -50 overnight tonight, and the province just issued an emergency alert to conserve power. Tonight is going to be .

Last time we I had a power outage at -40, it was only for 3 seconds, but it freaked me out enough that I bought a small generator. Didn't use the generator for ~12 YEARS. So I sold it. Bad idea, now I want it.
Protip: have a go bag with your pets food ready to go, and your car full of gas in case you need to keep warm there overnight.
Doesn't look like this cold will let up till Monday or Tuesday.
