raydan raydan: Brenda Brenda: Heh, actually, I gave him a choice, whichever he preferred, asshole or cute. I don't care which one If I had a buck for every time a woman gave me that choice. You could buy a coffee??

Brenda Brenda: Why does any video on youtube go viral? Generally because it's funny or entertaining (edit, inspirational). None of which apply here. Edit look through a list the only ones I'm seeing that don't follow that line are "Don't tase me bro" "Kony 2012" "Puppy throwing marine" Three out of a list of about 50. Surely not exhaustive.

Tricks Tricks: Brenda Brenda: Why does any video on youtube go viral? Generally because it's funny or entertaining. Neither of which apply here. Or because people are sympathetic and empathetic. Either apply here. Video's of children with Progeria go viral too, hell, they even made a reality show about them. Video's of children dying from cancer go viral...

Tricks Tricks: Gunnair Gunnair: Then you're ignoring why people have taken exception to his post.
You'd think after all this time you all would have figured out that's exactly what trolls want. I'm trying to steer the conversation away from him so that his fun stops. He's going to be banned eventually... we all know that.

Tricks Tricks: I agree 100%. Clearly you guys are misunderstanding my post. Thiizic is a shit stain. He can go fuck a goat for all I care. But I'm curious as to why all of this suddenly matters to the world. It barely has other than a few blips in recent years. What's changed? Bullying is a building issue. People are becoming more and more concerned about it as the internet has caused an explosion in bullying. I think when an issue is building, each new story gets more and more attention. The next bully-suicide will get more press and more outrage than this one. There's also the "innocent white girl" angle. There's always a higher level of outrage when it's a teenaged girl that's the victim. "Gun violence" had been increasing over several years, but it wasn't until Jane Creba got killed on Boxing Day on Yonge Street in Toronto that the public really got outraged.

Tricks Tricks: *sigh* Time to play non-troll devil's advocate I suppose.
He (in a very offensive, hardly discernible twisted way) has a small point. Why the attention now? People have been offing themselves for years because of bullying, but we're getting all the attention now. Because she puts a face on bullying. Perhaps even because people feel worse that she was crying out for help that she didn't get, or was too late. People also donated almost a million dollars to an older woman in the U.S. that was bullied by some school children, and there was whiners about that as well.

Almost how it seems everytime there is a shooting it gets more and more coverage and more and more outrage. $1: There's also the "innocent white girl" angle. That's the other part of what I'm thinking. Again, shitposting, but shitstain has a point with his earlier posted picture. A young male (or there is another floating around of a young black girl) kills themselves because of cyber bullying and no one hears about it. I hadn't until those pictures.

Sometimes silence is taken as agreement. I don't agree and I don't mind feeding trolls a shit sandwich.

I've seen neither of those. And people are rarely genuinely sympathetic or empathetic. So because you don't know, it is not true, or not popular, or not "going viral"? No, people love to watch a train wreck. Is that what we should teach our children?

Brenda posted an example earlier, why not his? Why not all the people who have killed themselves in the last 10 years because of this shit? Something has changed recently, but I can't tell what. You've got a point about the bus driver, it changed then too.

You had also (almost) forgotten about Tyler Clementi, which was a big one. So what does that tell you? That you don't absorb that well, or that "she gets so much attention now"? Amanda chose to put her life on youtube. Not everyone choses that. If there is nothing to find about someone, they won't go "viral".
