For those of you that can translate her gibberish:
$1:
Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin said Tuesday that global warming is "real," but stressed that it "kind of doesn't matter" whether or not humans are to blame for climate change.

Human activity has "contributed to the issues that we're dealing with now with these impacts" on the earth's climate, Palin, who is Republican standardbearer John McCain's running mate, said in an interview aired Tuesday with CBS News' Katie Couric.

"I'm not going to solely blame all of man's activities on changes in climate because the world's weather patterns are cyclical, and over history we have seen changes there.

"But it kind of doesn't matter at this point in the debate what caused it. The point is it's real, we need do something about it."

And the Palin way is to solve the problem without understanding the cause!

Which puts her right on the same page with many scientists who question the findings of James Hansen and etc. who believe that pollution from capitalist countries causes AGW while pollution from developing countries makes daisies bloom and kittens purr.

And that is logically their position since that is the position of the vaunted Kyoto Treaty they all worship.

Also, there are lots of problems that get solved without anyone ever bothering to understand the cause.

I swear, you liberals and your bizarre fascination with root causes.

******************

A little parable for you....

500 conservatives and 500 liberals take a cruise to Alaska. At some point the ship starts sinking. Who survives?

That would be the 500 conservatives who heard the ship was sinking and headed to the lifeboats while the 500 liberals were all searching for the root cause of the sinking. Had they offended the water and now the water was angry with them and trying to kill them? Perhaps if they just understood why the water was coming into the ship they could mediate a solution that everyone could live with, like maybe the water could have the lower decks and the passengers and crew could keep the upper decks and everyone could live in harmony? Maybe a UN peacekeeping team could be called in to keep the water away from the passengers?

********************

You get my point. Most problems just need to be fixed. Worrying about what caused them instead of fixing them or dealing with them can be a grave error.

I haven't laughed so hard in weeks!!!

As a matter of fact, I do!
First, I suggest Gov. Palin take some remedial English classes.
Second, some basic high school science is required - with a focus on 'cause and effect'.

What? Oh, you were talking about climate change.
Silly me.

First, she hasn't offered any solution.
Second, she doesn't think it's important to understand what the cause of CC is.
If one doesn't understand the cause then how can one create a solution?
Moron.

I think before she does anything she should use her tracking skills to find the aliens that stole her brain.

I see you've been listening to Bush again!
What a tremendous effort you've expended on trying to divert attention from Palin's idiocy.
Go look up the definition of sophistry.

I'll give you another version of your stupid parable.

A man's basement is flooding with water. Instead of finding the cause of the problem, he begins filling buckets and dumping them outside. He does this for the rest of his life (much like the American taxpayer will be doing if they pass the 'bailout' bill).

Getting back to Palin.
The honourable Governor of Alaska can barely form a coherent sentence.

So the moral is that Repubs are like rats leaving a sinking ship?
ROTFL [B-o]

lily lily:
Another possible ending to your little parable is that whatever was causing the ship to sink was easily fixed, so while the Repubs were seeing to their own safety, the liberals were saving the lives of their fellow passengers... as well as the ship itself.

Parables..parables..

Root cause you want..... well here you go.

Global warming/cooling....mother nature.

Sinking ship....storm...mother nature.

Now that was easy wot old chap.

Now I do agree that Ms. Palin is a work in progress.

Yes, Bart's just a shining example of someone that immediately accepted the reality of rising temperatures (the "sinking ship") and began to seek solutions to the ramifications.

You wouldn't have seen Bart stubbornly refuse to even accept the notion of rising temperatures for the past several years in every discussion of the topic or persistently attempt to refute any hint of rising temperatures, or resorting to using "what warming?" as his signature line. No way! Bart's all about sticking to the facts and acting on them, while all them liberals like Al Gore were too busy patiently trying to work out the details of Global Warming before making any drastic decisions to pull out the "life boats".

(what a pathetic analogy)

What you are really saying here is that it is real easy for mechanics to screw over conservatives.

Conservative: My car is running rough.
Mechanic: No problem, leave it with me and it will be ready in a week and a half.
Conservative: A week and a half????
Mechanic: Yes, we will replace the entire powertrain to ensure that the cause has been eliminated.

The next day...
Mechanic replaces the air intake filter and timing module. Parts and one hour of labour: $150.

A week and a half later...
Conservative: It runs great now. How much do I owe you?
Mechanic: $8500....

Trust your mechanic to mend your car
Bring it in to his garage
He tightens and loosens a few spare parts
One thing's fixed, another falls apart
And the rich eat you!

Not sure what her point was, but the way I look at it it really doesn't matter whether it is man-made or cyclical. Fact: Pollution is bad for everyone. Solution: Cut back on pollution. Does it help with global warming? Dunno. If it does, great, if not... Will it help people's health? Probably.

Yes, lets try to figure out the root cause, but while we are at it lets try whatever we can that will at least cut down on our suspected sources of pollution that may or may not contribute to it. One way or the other, we will be wasting less resources and creating less waste for our children to deal with after we are gone.

Oh, yeah... we have already lowered our pollution: we outsourced it to China.

Yeah, I know, I'm rambling. Got a migraine. Can't think totally straight.

You, me, and probably everyone else on this forum combined have a lower carbon footprint than Al Gore does.

If your Saint Al knows so bloody much then why isn't HE acting on it instead of living in a mansion, driving an SUV (yeah, his kid owns a Prius but drives it at 100MPH), and flying around in private jets everywhere?

And what about James Hansen? Or David Suzuki? Both of them have swank homes and likewise gallavant about the world in private jets instead of lowering themselves to flying with people like you and I.

If they REALLY believed their own propaganda wouldn't you expect them to lead by example?

So when Al Gore and etc. start walking their talk I'll start giving a crap about what they say. For right now all I see are a bunch of hypocrites at best and charlatans at worst.
