Oh, Whistler can get suddenly wet!
... AND the Cyprus Bowl, even more so!

Mike Babcock's last words to the media before leaving Sochi.

"At the postgame press conference, Babcock offered this: “Does anybody know who won the scoring race? Does anybody care? Does anybody know who won the gold medal? See ya, guys." Well said, Mr Babcock. :rock:

Exactly! The talking heads on TV kept saying we squeaked by Latvia. Like hell we did, it was a total domination and only luck got them their only goal. We dominated them in our zone and theirs. Made it easy on the Zamboni drivers too, since they really only need to flood one end of the rink each period.

I noticed a few different medal standings depending on who you tuned to. For instance NBC said the US finish 2nd in the medal standing........which is true for overall quantity. CBC said we finished 3rd in medal standings based on total gold medals as I've copied below.

RUS 13 11 9 33
NOR 11 5 10 26
CAN 10 10 5 25
USA 9 7 12 28

To me it would seem logical to award points for each medal based it's value multiplied by the number won. If that were the case and with points given as follows. the results would be a clear victory for Russia, but we would also move to second.
Gold = 3
Silver = 2
Bronze = 1

Using the count above this should be how they finished and points received.

RUS 39 22 9 70
NOR 33 10 10 53
CAN 30 20 5 55
USA 27 14 12 53

We outplayed the hell outta them. Their goalie OTOH was friggin' amazing. That dude probably put on the best show at the Olympics.

Must have been tough for Tampa's GM as he watched young Kristers Gudlevskis in goal against our guys considering that the kid plays for their AHL affiliate. Gotta agree that I enjoyed watching the Latvian game more than any other in the prelim simply because of Kristers - he absolutely played lights out.
