Nothing. Nothing at all.

Of course they can breed (unless sterilized) and pass on genes. Who thought otherwise?

Honestly, that doesn't seem too horrible, considering it'll keep genetic diversity up, no?

There is probably some concern that some sort of frankenfish is going to be brought into existence and wreak all kinds of havoc with the ecosystem.

When something gets into the environment that nature didn't create, there are consequences. Like Asian Carp, or Zebra Mussels. Who knows what new adaptation these hybrid GM fish will inherit?

Meanwhile, in other News, AquaBounty sues Mother Nature for patent infringement.

If they were breeding with totally different species of fish, I'd agree with you, but, it's GM salmon mating with salmon, and the brown trout (which was already happening in nature). The only consequence is that GM salmon would grow larger, faster.

Eh, I guess I'm not too concerned since I'm hoping genetic modification can be implemented for humans within my lifetime to prevent future generations from getting psoriasis.
