I truly can't understand how someone can defend anybody like that... not just Trump, anybody. It's an alien concept for me. [huh]

I'll assume that you, and most everyone else, were raised to be mostly decent human beings, that your parents had something different in mind than "you know what, I'm gonna raise my kid to be the most awful bullying and sociopathic little twat I can make him into". As such it's not possible for those of us who aren't like that to ever really understand those who were raised to be the absolute worst person they could be. You'll never really understand Trump, and you'll never really understand most of the Trump voters/supporters either. It's best to just leave it as some sort of tribal quirk the sadists think is hilarious that will remain insane to you but perfectly rational to those who think & behave that way.

I get it. I hope you know I have no hostility towards you I like reading your posts and submissions, he'll, I've shared some stuff with you that's pretty personal.

I'm sorry you catch some of the brunt of my angst. I don't wish you elected a socialist, I wish you elected a leader that respected his allies.

If your ever in Calgary I'd buy you a beer...

Thank you. And if you're ever in Sacramento I'll buy you a beer myself. [BB]

Eg: you can't buy 'Gouda' in the store anymore, now it's 'soft ripened cheese'.

Yes you can, I just had some for lunch. It was, however, made in the Netherlands. And it was VERY good.

Exactly! The stuff made in Canada can't be called 'Gouda' because 'Gouda' only comes from the Netherlands under EU law.

The stuff that used to be called 'Gouda' that I get from Costco is now 'Soft Ripened Cheese'. And, it's not bad. ;)

Good grief, even trying to turn the handshake thing around. Trump repeatedly tried to embarrass others by yanking them off balance and shoving them around when shaking hands. A douche thing to do. Trudeau didn't allow him to do that and it's Trudeau's error?

I think Robair is referring to this

https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/the-han ... -1.3284460

Trump had a habit of yanking people off balance when he first met world leaders, Trudeau didn't let him.

BartSimpson BartSimpson:

Now, speaking for myself: After coming into two years of unrelenting abuse by certain Canadians you'll forgive me if I am keenly aware of the hostility against my country because we didn't elect a socialist like many Canadians would prefer.

I am not the only person who has been subjected to this hostility from Canadians.

Spare us the pity party.

You and your liar of a President have been coming after Canada since the day this orange retard came into office. You deserve everything coming at you.

Calling us 'spoiled', claimed 'we don't treat you right', claimed what we did to your dairy farmers a 'disgrace', openly lied about having a trade deficit and openly called our PM dishonest and weak.

You don't get to hold the moral high ground. Your Country has been shitting on us for the last 2 years and now you're going to try and claim you've been mistreated? Yeah right.

BartSimpson BartSimpson:
I don't know what to say past that. This nonsense has real impacts and it amazes me how often people say things and expect their words to have no repercussions.

Tell that to your President and stop complaining when some of the shit you've been throwing blows back in your face.

Trump is so obvious with his motives, the entire World can see what he's doing. We're laughing at Trump and his threats to tax cars. Why? Because he already told us this was his plan to scare us.

He's a terrible negotiator.

$1:
In another remark he did not want published, Trump said that any deal with Canada would be “totally on our terms.” He suggested he was scaring the Canadians into submission by repeatedly threatening to impose tariffs on imports of Canadian-made cars.

“Off the record, Canada’s working their ass off. And every time we have a problem with a point, I just put up a picture of a Chevrolet Impala,” Trump said. The Impala is produced at the General Motors plant in Oshawa, Ont.

It's what Bart is referring to when justifying his president's treatment of Canada and the Canadian Prime Minister.

BartSimpson BartSimpson:
No, I do not want this. But I also don't want NAFTA. Not the way it's been.

Mexico came to the table and now there's a deal in the works and their trade rep made over sixty-five separate visits to Washington, made repeated meetings with the administration, and somehow managed never to insult anyone, nor did he make himself a spectacle in the media over a handshake, and he didn't seek out any other opportunity to embarrass the President or anyone connected to him.

All kinds of videos on youtube of Trump yanking and pulling other world leaders around. It's an attempt at intimidation.

I'd ask you to take a look at it from our perspective, considering the creature you voted for opened up an entirely un-necessary trade war on our country without any justification or provocation at all. The last time I asked you to understand someone else's perspective though you completely ignored it so I won't bother at all to make the same request of you at all ever again. I'm sure, because you're the opposite of an idiot, you totally understand the other side in the wars you engage in but then again I'm also completely sure that you just simply don't care at all about their viewpoints or perspectives in the slightest. This kind of dismissiveness is exactly the reason why why when you go all snowflaky about the "hostility" of others that barely anyone here, Canadian conservatives and liberals alike, have no patience or time to give your complaints any attention at all. YOUR guy declared war on US, not the other way around. You asking us to accept what Trump has done is morally and ethically the same as asking Poland to apologize for "their part" in the Gleiwitz incident. Don't expect an amen corner to be waiting for you, or any other right-wing Trumpist, when you're the ones that started the damn ridiculous fight in the first place.

$1:
….elect a socialist....

$1:
A place to stay
Enough to eat
Somewhere old heroes shuffle safely down the street
Where you can speak out loud
About your doubts and fears
And what's more
No-one ever disappears
You never hear their standard issue
Kicking in your door
You can relax on both sides of the tracks
And maniacs don't blow holes in bandsmen by remote control
And everyone has recourse to the law
And no-one kills the children anymore
No-one kills the children anymore

Roger Waters "The Gunner's Dream"

That's all socialism has ever been in the West, dawg. That's all it's ever been too, just giving those without some safety and stability for their lives and their families so maybe they can stand up and make something decent for themselves. Tommy Douglas, for all his own flaws, never belonged in the same company as Lavrenti Beria no matter how hard right-wingers keep saying that he does. Just because you can't see it because your ruling class has done such a great job of making things like a company dental plan or public housing for the truly poor and downtrodden equivalent in the minds of contemporary "conservatives" to setting up a gulag doesn't make it a false dream either. I suspect this is something you completely understand but considering you're eternally stuck in ideological warrior-mode it's also something you'll never acknowledge.

I hound you Bart, to explain some of the bullshit you peddle, not out of a need to piss you off - but in hopes that you will see it's bullshit and question yourself as to why you hold on to things that provably aren't true.

Freeland did not call Trump a dictator. Trudeau said not a word about the 2006 Presidential election. Yet you used these falsehoods as justification to excuse your President (whom you didn't like and didn't vote for) to ruin the economy of a long time friend and ally like Canada, jsut because he can. And in the coming months, I think you'll see he's ruined your economy as well.

So why continue to spread the lies Trump uses to justify it? We've shown you that our dairy is no threat to you, it's the US's own policy of subsidies that has caused that mess. Softwood, newspaper, country of origin labelling, Steel tariffs, Kinder eggs FFS! The White House does things that are unjustifiable, and end up being reversed in court. Why defend these things when you know they are indefensible?

Canada is not the enemy of the United States. Far from it. I don't understand how Americans can be fine with the repeated attacks on us.

We've been your closest friend and ally for nearly a century. We've consistently gone out of our way to help you when you needed it.

In 1979 we took in and smuggled back you embassy workers from Tehran, in 2001 we put our Combat jets in the air over New York and Washington to prevent further tragedy on that day. We also opened our homes, and communities to tens of thousands of passengers who were stranded, and we backed you in Afghanistan.

These are not actions an enemy would do, these are more actions of a good friend and ally.

All we ask is to be respected and treated in kind.
