There is a difference between doing the right thing because the data says to, and doing the right thing also being complimentary to China. Just because they do something that looks good on China doesn't mean they did it because it looks good to China.

Are they truly in China's pocket or are they, like the rest of the world, dependent on an unreliable and secretive regime for accuracy in information on COVID-19?

Given what has come out on cover-ups of COVID-19 by the Chinese government (such as Dr. Li Wenliang), I'm going with the latter.

So there you have it. WHO depends on information given to it by the countries health authorities. If those authorities are providing WHO with bad information, like China was - how is that WHO's fault? Like the former Ambassador stated, WHO should be more proactive in holding China to standards like it did during the SARS outbreak, but that doesn't mean that relating the information China was providing was a 'pro China' political move for WHO.

And cutting funding for WHO won't make things better.
