I'd say with estranged husbands killing children and entire families in our own countries we should worry about ourselves.

Yes I say we should leave. Its BS we are their because the taliban is bad. We armed and trained the boy raping, women hating, opium dealing warlord mobs for no other reason then we wanted a long and bloody war for the soviets.

Where was our compassion then? We weren't thinking about their well being when we did everything we could to bog the USSR down in its own vietnam did we?

Now, we cry crocodile tears for a few girls while we ignore the FACT our soldiers are being told to turn a blind eye as our "allies" reestablish boy rape cultural aspects previously outlawed by the taliban.

It never fails that the war supporters cling to acts of violence as "proof" we should be there.

What about the fact the US backed the contras committing the same horrific acts?

What about the UK dealing with pinochet knowing full well what he was because it suited their needs in a war they would have won anyway?

What about the US backing saddam even knowing how he came to power because he was fighting the iranians and they were the enemy at the time?

What about any number of far worse violence our society has inflicted upon others for own own reasons?

We don't belong there. We are wrong to be there. We should withdrawl and hope another larger and stronger society doesn't come along and hold Canada responsible for our gross energy usage and pollution spewing society. Hell, we had better just hope nobody decides to "help" the natives regain their lost land as we have apparently done in the Stan.

There are lots of tribes in that area all with histories stretching back millenia longer theh our own.

We simply picked a few tribes to use to attack the others just as our ancestors did with our own natives long ago. We "allied" with some native tribes in our fight agianst the US or other tribes back then too but in the end we turned out to be the betrayers.

Teh people we have allied with are just as guilty as the taliban for injustices and horrific acts also.

Thats why things are even worse even though its been over 7 years.

lets see here. How many rockets have the West Bank Jordanians fired into Israel lately, and how many times have the IDF had to clear out terroists there? None. Yet the Gaza Egyptians have continued to target Israeli homes, so Israel targets the offices of the terrorists.
