Actually this sort of makes sense except for the opposite reasons

If the RCMP was (and it was) run by a bunch of myopic sob's and if they set the "standards" for what type of people that the force would hire...then obviously they are going to hire people like themselves.

So if the RCMP is already full of these sorts of people then "lowering" the standards actually means hiring beyond the traditional limitations of the hiring policy were. Therefore allowing people who were somehow excluded before.

Take for example education. If the standard was a post secondary diploma or degree you might exclude a young man or woman who started working after high school because they could not afford to go just didn't want to go to school.

We all know many people who have barely a grade 12 education (or even less) that are brilliant and successful.

It is easy to exclude people that don't fit the mold. But I know alot of people who don't fit the mold that would make great cops.

People don't sue poor people. There's no point. But it WAS a joke, and that certainly IS an acceptable defense to defamation. For a statement to be defamatory, malice must be proven. But you're right. I likely shouldn't have said it. It wasn't even that funny as a joke.

When did I ever claim to be an intelectual [sic]? That's twice you've tried to tag that on me. If you disagree with me that there are more dicks among cops than other professions, fine. I can't prove it and I admit it. But I can tell a cop in street clothes, on their day off at the grocery store, just by their strut. And I haven't read any counterargument that would change my opinion yet. Instead, I've just seen a lot of strawman responses.
