Concert : Testeagles June 10th Adelaide Uni Bar Review

I came to this gig at the last minute , I had seen them only 2 and a half weeks earlier at a different location and was so impressed I figured I had best see them one more time before I leave Australia and most likely never see them again. The Testeagles are a 3 peice heavy styled band from Adelaide South Australia starring brothers Matt and Ady and bassist D who have a single major label CD out called Non-Comprehendus on Krell/Epic Records. They have been playing Australia for several years now and I have only recently come into their music about 4 months ago upon seeing them at another concert in Adelaide. The crowd was packed out quite nicely in the semi-small venue only capable of packing in 200-300 people to see the local band. The first band Lhaabia (something like that) were a young band who although not playing terribly bad music sounded like they came straight from their parents garage, they were off key and definatly needed some work on vocals soon after came Dominion dressed out in black hooded monk-style gowns with their arms outstretched to the side with a cloud of mist coming from the stage. At first I thought "oh great, its some fucked up old school satanic metal band" but I was wrong, instead it was some fucked up non-satanic old school metal band, as much as I would love to give them shit, they were not nearly as bad as I made them sound, they played an alright set and seemed to know what they were doing up there. Finally after waiting 45 mins (the Testeagles are always late for some reason) the Testeagles came on and started playing, and yes they were as good as ever, the all-ages show brought out a few over excited TE fans moshing elbows up and crowd surfing to kill , I received several key blows to the back of the head (from the same dickhead and yes I almost punched his fucking head in) but other than that they played their australian hits "Underdog" and "Turn that shit up" aswell as my favorites "Non-comprehendus" and "Like no other" and ending with "Dream is your time" [note: This song sounds really fucking cool live]. This song which is also the final track on the cd is the perfect song to end with, Matt slams his guitar on the stage flooring as the last chord he played sounds from his guitar as he walks away and his vocals still echoing throughout the place and the ambient sample playing on still in the background getting quiter and quiter as D and Ady walk off the stage and It brings forth the testeagles message that "life is like no other". The Testeagles are an amazing band with a gift for writing great songs (I love every song on their cd) and im suprised at how they would'nt get over to the North American markets especially with the explosion in popularity of "nu-metal" acts (think papa roach, linkin park and *cough* limp bizkit). I definatly recommend anyone leap at a chance to see this unique Australian band.
