GuildWars rpg Review

I've recently received the rpg game Guildwars and have been playing it for two weeks now. The best thing about is no monthly fees, unlike World of Warcraft or Everquest. It is a MMORPG but structured differently. You play against AI in co-op mode to aquire skills for your character etc but when you play pvp mode all players are level twenty (max level). The only difference is you can equip skills from the co-op mode into your player vs player character. The pvp aspect is where the name comes in. Guilds (clans) set up matches against each other and achieve ranking from these matches. You can also play against other humans in the co-op mode by entering an Arena in the town your character is in. This drops you into a randomly assigned team of four to fight against another team of four. Points won here carry over for you to your pvp character. The game looks great graphically and is very scalable for more or less capable computers. Also it is optimised for online play , allowing dial-up users to compete on an even footing with ubercable people like myself. A friend of mine here in Edmonton and I are forming a guild to play PVP and anyone interested should message me. This game was written by people who also wrote World of Warcraft and Everquest and makes great strides in overcoming some of the shortcomings of those games. The combat is fast and furious even against the AI and requires teamwork and tactics to win. Combat vs other humans is really wild, especially in the bigger matches. (up to 12 vs 12) The eye candy from a decent vid card is very rewarding, especially when you have just cast Firestorm while your teammate fires flaming poisoned arrows. If you like rpgs but hate monthly fees this is a game to look into. You can have fun with AI teammates in co-op mode or go nuts with pvp Guild combat, entirely at your choice.
