They need the funds far more for some border-jumper than they ever will for anyone who put on the uniform of this country. Good to see that by jumping through every hoop imaginable in order to deny active service members and veterans any assistance possible our honourable DND & wonderful government are truly living up to their reputations of responsible budget managers.

Our country is f’ed and has been for a while

It disgusting that this has been dragging on for 13 years and that there are many parties to blame - her CO, the Conservatives and the Liberals. Minster Sajjan should just step up and say they'll pay for it already.

It remains amazing that despite all the rip-offs of benefits and assistance that occur in this country, often with the active assistance of bureaucratic departments and even from ministers, it's only the military members and veterans that apparently have their applications for help sifted through with a fine tooth comb. Is there some automatic assumption that only serving personnel and veterans are running some sort of scam when they apply, but everyone else (even the obvious crooks and lowlifes) gets some kind of auto-approval. Like what is there, some hidden demographic of military-haters that has the ear of the goddamn government and gets their demands to screw over military people granted whenever they want it?
