Ricky Gervais kicked off the Golden Globes by telling the audience his fifth time hosting would be his last, then proceeded to deliver an expletive-laced skewering of Hollywood's elites.
I watched his opening monologue and it was cringeworthy in a good way to say the least.
Not alot of people laughed at his jokes despite them being funny and given the chilly reaction he got despite telling everyone that "they're just jokes and we have to learn to laugh at ourselves" my guess is that he's done as the host of any awards show.
But when I got back the show was still on and Joaquin Phoenix was receiving some award or other but what was interesting was that given his slurred sailor like speech, over exaggerated hand movements and attempt to embarrass the twits in the audience to walk the walk instead of just talking the talk, he was likely either drunk or stoned because he got just about as great a reception as Ricky Gervais and actually had his acceptance speech cut by the same people he was admonishing.
It's funny that it finally took a gay guy and foul mouthed drunk guy to square off the rest of the clowns in Hollywood for their excesses, inability to laugh at themselves and less than ethical behaviour while moralizing for the rest of the world. Unfortunately it won't make one bit of difference because for most of these asshats it's a "right" not "privilege" to carry on doing exactly what they're telling the rest of us not to do.

Ricky Gervais isn't gay. Maybe thinking of Stephen Fry?
Great Monologue though.
Could be but you're right, his monologue was spot on. Unfortunately the idiots in Hollywood still can't tell what's comedy and what's an attack on their lifestyles. My favorite though was the Felicity Huffman jab.

It would be an improvement to the planet.

Just so guys aren't of the opinion that Ricky Gervais is some Hollywood iconoclast that slipped through the cracks:
Why screw up a thread with your hate for Trump.
Because it's damn funny.
Yes it is but better for different thread.
