Giant litter boxes. Dead bodies. "Sulfur death." Some pretty powerful images were being evoked on social media to describe the unpleasant smells wafting through the skies in Calgary this week — but fear not.

It is. Its smell of a soon to be dead city beginning to rot.

Happens pretty much everywhere this time of year when it warms up and the snow starts to melt.

People are just on edge this time.

I catch the odour of rotting vegetation more in the fall. Must say I never noticed it in Calgary very much. For a really bad smell, the pulp mills were a great place for them. Most are gone in my province now.
