This is good news, especially for those that do not have this benefit through their employer.

Very good news! Nothing like having to work while sick to let all your co-workers know you care. :(

Maybe the neo-Trudeaumaniacs can explain why socialism has to be so complicated. If the poor need more money, then just give them more money directly.

Would've stopped dicks like me: Rather get paid and feel like shit there than sit at home feeling like shit and not get paid.
The last couple places I worked had one paid sick day per month. The ex got 7 paid sick days a year, you got paid out at Xmas for any you didn't use. She'd regularly spend the week's pay she was going to get two or three times, then get sick like 50 times a year and get fuck all...

To bad it took a pandemic to get the gov'ts attention because this is something that should have been done decades ago. Now the problem is going to be ensuring people use this perk as intended and don't blow all their sick days as "personal holidays" and then, when they're really sick still have to go to work.

i remembering mishearing some lyric in a song, sounded like "Nobody ever gets sick, and if they do, they're full of it" which sounded like the situation in workplaces, where the ones calling in sick are generally the careless slackers, while those who are dependable will show up violently ill just to make $80 or so

I thought of that too. People are people after all. :(

I have rarely ever called in sick to work for many years now, mostly because I haven't needed to. Though the last time I did was a couple of years ago when I tweaked a muscle in my back (my own fault as I knew I lifted something the wrong way) and for a few days was in so much pain that I would have been useless at work anyway.

I know a couple of weeks ago I probably should have as I had a bad time with my allergies for a few days and may have appeared to be sick to others. It would have been easier to cope with at home for sure.

So, who is paying the 10 days ?

    Employers, or Government... meaning taxpayers.

I am thankful I get sick days with my work thou I rarely use them. I can confirm they we did lose some employee's even with this in place however. That said having sick days and a culture of having people having to show up with a doctors note to confirm they really are sick is a burden on the health system. For that reason ALONE this will save money on the system and the employer.

I always thought that was a stupid policy. We are adults. Treat us like it.
