The oldest ship in the Canadian Coast Guard fleet will return to service next month after spending three of the last four years in refit.

Only in Canada would you refit a ship for 3 years, so that it can serve 4 more years before retirement.

If the previous government hadn't bollixed up ship replacement for the Navy and the Coast Guard, we'd already have a new supply ship and this coast guard ship, instead of having to refit an old rustbucket like this one.

At 57 years old that ship's frame is going to have significant metal fatigue. I'd hate like hell to be on it when it breaks up in rough seas.
