Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez suffered a stinging defeat Monday in a vote on constitutional changes that would have let him run for re-election indefinitely and solidify his bid to transform this major U.S. oil provider into a socialist state.
I wouldn't be surprised if something similar shows up 2 years from now...sort like the EU constitution. He'll trim down some provisions that he won't neccesarly need, give alittle more incentive with social programs, and have harpoon voters and get them to vote for it.
I respect that he honored the vote, though he knows no man can stay in power and garner respect if he doesn't play by the rules even if he decides to make them up later on.
Though he did say he would step down if this didn't get passed.
cheers to the people of Venezuela !!
now here is a nice surprise..
