Officials in Prince George say an ice-jam that's causing the Nechako River to flood its banks is now five kilometres long and may soon force more residents from their homes.
Ice-jam in prince George in early december? Impossible....according to the IPCC, Al Gore, Suzuki.....the arctic is ice free so how could there be an ice jam in Prince George.
Maybe it's the smoke from all the burning crosses...........
"ryan29" said say that sounds serious , not sure what can be done to solve problem . maybe they could blow up the ice jam ?
Every time that get's brought up we are told it can't be done because the result would be unpredictable. However in the old days when people just did what had to be done without government interference that's what did the job.
Trout unlimited did a lot of work on the crowsnest river years ago with boulders for the trout,it was great for the fish untill one year a warm spell caused the ice to flow and the river couldnt handle the velocity anymore so we broke out the backhoes. You had to do this slowly,it also causes major damage to the river but oh well. They never did put as many boulders back when they reclaimed it the second time.

Break out the backhoes!
They could use explosives, but say they blew up 100m of a 5km ice-jam, it still leaves 4.9 km of ice that being a problem.
OR maybe it's all the rubbish you spew here on a daily basis.

Sounds like a job for a few CF-18s. Call it "practice".
Just let global warming thaw it.
That's what caused it.

Higher temperatures means more ice? Quirky.

Why tell the truth when a good lie will do?
In all seriousness this ice jam began over a week ago when the temperature reached a low of -29.
And because we aren't the lower mainland, sweet dick all will ever be done about it.
